Would like something with a bit of a witchy vibe, would love something Welsh, Scottish, or Irish

Torin - I believe it is Irish and means 'chief'

Rhun for a Welsh name, or Iolo.
I also like Odin , which although not Celtic carries the witchy vibe you like.

NefiBlw · 06/03/2025 08:12

Gandalf

Mwydryn · 06/03/2025 08:17

Myrddin and Gwydion tie in with your witchy vibe, as does Gwion- a lovely name imo.

partyboob · 06/03/2025 08:17

Taliesin

NefiBlw · 06/03/2025 08:23

@Mwydryn , I wanted to suggest Gwion but thought 'How would i explain how to say it?' It's like wee-on but with a G on the front! Myrddin is great too.

Pwyll, Urien, Efnisien

Gwern and Bleddyn are both terrific.

I didn't say Gwyddno for the same reason!

Eleri is very ordinary, IMO. Nice but I know lots of them, especially in my own age groups or if younger, who have it as a middle name. So the run-of-the-mill names like Osian, Gethin, Rhydian etc would be OK.

Euryn is a beautiful name, but like Euros, it is underused.

Two E names is a bit too much. How about Ynyr, Lleu, Cadwaladr, Goronwy, Mathonwy....

Or a very safe Griffin (Gruffyn)

Depends where OP lives. It would be very unusual outside Wales and in the more anglicised parts of Wales.
It's not a name given to children these days, but due a comeback I think, as it's very pretty.

NefiBlw · 06/03/2025 09:03

@Persista , Eleri is currently very popular for baby girls. Baby names in England and Wales - Office for National Statistics. The list has some ones I wasn't expecting.

I know far too many, all Eh-Lerry or Lerry (Most of them Eleri X. at school.), plus there are so many El- names around.

Idris

Idris is Ken Walsh to me. Smile
