What do you think?

LOVE eden, cant stand Autumn. sorry
i know an eden, her parents actually ARE hippies- in fact they live in a commune

AutumnLady · 06/05/2008 15:59

I like them both

mymblemummy · 07/05/2008 00:14

I like both, but Autumn is my favourite of the two.

There's a character called Eden in Barbara Vine's "A Dark-Adapted Eye". Not a very nice character.

Tortington · 07/05/2008 00:17

chavtastic " autumn" maybe 20 years ago it was unique now its up there with kylie

SmugColditz · 07/05/2008 00:20

No, please don't.

Give her a nice name, an original one that nobody else will have. Like Emily or something.

I like Eden.
But prefer Lillith (Adam's first wife who didn't do everything he told her to do!).

sunnydelight · 07/05/2008 05:10

Eden is gorgeous, and a bit unusual. I liked Autumn until I clicked on popmum's link and thought "Autumn Kelly" looked a bit silly written down - don't know why though

seeker · 07/05/2008 06:11

My ds has a friend called Autumn - and people are alwasy calling her Summer by mistake. It's as if they know it's a season - byt don't remember which one!

seeker · 07/05/2008 06:18

I think when you're choosing names, it's important to remember that the peson you're naming is going to be a baby for 2 years, a child for another 14, and an adult for maybe 70. Just think what it would be like to spend 70 years with a name that your parents thought was incredibly sweet when you were a baby!

daizydoo · 07/05/2008 06:23

love the name Autumn. If I had a girl I wanted to call her Autumn Rose, but DH said it sounded like a strippers name

Thankyouandgoodnight · 07/05/2008 10:31

Colditz - Emily isn't an original name at all!

OP posts:
SmugColditz · 07/05/2008 10:50

I bet nobody in her class will be called Emily.

Whereas there are 2 Autumns already at ds1's school, and one moving up next year too. There's also a Summer.

UnquietDad · 07/05/2008 10:52

Funny how you don't get Springs and Winters.

Autumn? I'd leaf well alone.

ipanemagirl · 07/05/2008 10:53

LOL Unquietdad!!!!

Sorry, I don't like Autumn hugely, but you need to like it, that's the most important thing isn't it?

Hulababy · 07/05/2008 20:01

Too modern for me I think. I have never come across an Autumn before though if you are looking for a more unusual name. Have come across Summer before, which I have to say that I do prefer, but still not my choice of name.

2point4kids · 07/05/2008 20:06

Autumn is LOVELY!

Not sure on Eden though

RIELOVESBACARDI · 07/05/2008 20:08

i wanted to call my dd summer as she was born on 21st june mid summers day etc but my xhusbant was a tosser

scottishmummy · 07/05/2008 20:11

autumn kelly horah who just married can-i-sell-it-yes-i-can Prince Peter

cosima · 07/05/2008 20:13

i dont think it matters when she is born, she's not going to have to give her DOB every time she introduces herself

janeite · 07/05/2008 20:13

Eden is gorgeous - not hard sounding at all. I don't like Autumn, sorry.

melpomene · 07/05/2008 20:32

Emily is pretty common- there are 2 in dd2's nursery class. I agree that Autumn doesn't pass the boardroom/promotion test, and it also seems silly if she isn't going to be born in Autumn.

scottishmummy · 07/05/2008 20:33

is that the same as the courtroom test eg Defendant or Barrister

smartiejake · 07/05/2008 21:45

I have a friend with a dd called Autumn. Have always thought it was rather nice.

squanderedzeitgeist · 12/05/2008 02:50

Lovely if born in the autumn, especially if a redhead- but a bit American-sounding?! ( or would that be 'Fall' I love the nature names like Violet, Pearl etc but go for those with a bit of a trad and vintage slant rather than hippy...

mloo · 12/05/2008 03:01

Wow at responses on this thread, I would have rated Autumn as a traditional conservative American name, miles away from 'hippy'.
