My cousin has suggested this as a band for my DD but I hate it. DH said its OK although not his fave. I think it sounds chavy tbh, especially the awful spelling! Thoughts?

Why are some posters saying this is bullshit and lame Mumsnet bait lol this isn't even as bad as some of the horrendous names out there right now and that is saying something lol I reckon I know a couple of people who wouldn't think twice about using this name

Even when neither parents liked it but t was suggested by a cousin?

PlumpUpTheJam · 13/01/2025 08:37

The OP in fact states she 'hates it'.

PlayedOurFavouriteSong · 13/01/2025 08:56

You have no choice. Everyone knows that cousins get to name our babies and parents get no say at all, so Lexi-Payje it is.

🤪

Oneandahalfonagoodday · 13/01/2025 09:13

Plot twist: DH & cousin are actually the same person 😜😂

On second thoughts...I LOVE it in a Wigan accent.

Lekseh Purge

I know this isn’t real but the amount of names I had to discount because of my strong north west accent is upsetting 🤣 I don’t have a DD but I’ve always liked Ariadne and Persephone for girls, but I couldn’t subject hypothetical children to that. Especially when I married someone from Aberdeen.

I relate as a fellow NW MNer

Half of my family haven't got the ability to say my name correctly.

My Mum (not local) literally cannot pronounce Eleanor.

Went to school with soooooo many Clurrs (Clare). And a Clurr-Murree. Grurce (Grace). Grurrrrceh (Gracie).

I'll see a name I love and then have to say it out loud with as exaggerated a local accent as possible.

I LOVE the name Gabriella. But she'd end up being Gabbeh. Or Gobbeh Gabbeh!

Ihopeithinkiknow · 13/01/2025 11:00

@PlumpUpTheJam is that the part of the post that people are saying is bullshit? I thought people were saying that coming up with that name was the bullshit bit and nobody would ever suggest calling a baby that lol.

caramac04 · 13/01/2025 11:06

I like both names but not hyphenated and I would spell middle name Paige.
However, this is your baby to name in agreement with your dh. I wouldn’t let anyone else choose my dc’s name although would be open to suggestions.

Golly. Not my taste but names are so loaded with meaning and memories they’re very tough. If that’s what he has his heart set on could you compromise on Alexandra Page Surname? Then he could call her Lexi and or Page?
I don’t think unusual spelling add anything except confusion.

Why on earth does OP need to compromise with her cousin on her own baby's name?!

RuthW · 13/01/2025 12:13

Alexandra Paige is fine

This is a joke, surely?

This HAS to be a joke.

It’s an extremely chavvy name - Lexxi -Payge ?

Jimberleigh for the win.

😂 That’s so funny with the accent added on .

I rather love a soft Yorkshire accent, but names like Persephone will be pronounced

“Percy- phone 📱” In many places around U.K.

(Gabby really is a gobby name “Gabri - YELL” )

Really?

No.

Chuchoter · 13/01/2025 13:11

Lexi is absolutely ghastly.

Payje is just made up nonsense.

beencaughttrollin · 13/01/2025 15:30

I'm not opposed to trad diminutives as stand-alone first names in general, but Lexi feels just a touch flimsy, so if it suits your style I'd consider the long form.

Is Payje meant to be a feminine form of Pajsije? If so, I'd keep as is; no reason it can't be unisex! But I would go with the Serbian Cyrillic spelling in order to avoid transliteration errors.

Welcome, little Electrolux-Пајсије !!

sel2223 · 13/01/2025 18:42

I can MAYBE get my head around Lexi (although I know 2 dogs with this name) but Payje is absolutely horrific

Alexandra Paige nn Lexie

I think Persephone would sound lovely in an Aberdonian accent, actually... 😁😍

But can he say 'purple burglar alarm'? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Excellent name for a band, would you consider Lexy's midnight payjes?

Lexy's Midnight Payjammies, surely?
