Just intrigued as due DS1 in April and my top contender is/was Frank but it appears to have become very popular in my area recently so I am told.

My children are pre/m-schoolers. The names we know many multiples of are variations of:

Freddie (the most popular by far!)
Teddy
Frank
Arthur
Albie
Rayaan
Theo

Leo, Harry, River are common around here. Some I've heard that I've not really heard since my generation, Daniel, Stephen, Christopher, I really like because they've stood out amongst the other names that I hear all the time. I work in child care.

Jude
oscar
noah
stanley

I haven't heard a Frank around here (London) for 20 years. Not for a child anyway. I'm not keen but I know that's not what you asked.
Go for it if you like it.

Oscar
Theo
Hugo
Jude
Archie
Arlo

I’ve heard of a few Franks but I think it’s a nice name!
Popular round here are
Theo
Leo
Otis
Noah
Arlo
Harry

I’ve only met one little Frank. I like it. My experience is there are tons of Oscar, Freddie, George, Joshua, Theodore, Leo, Arthur, Oliver…. Kinda bored of those….

BootballJoy · 09/01/2025 14:51

Louis/Louie, Reuben, Oscar, Noah, Theo, Harry, George.

Sunnyflow · 09/01/2025 14:56

I've not met a single Frank in 10 years.

Around here boys are called

Oliver
Harry
Zachary
Quentin
Roman

(I’m in N. Wales) I go to a lot of different toddler/baby groups and tbh there are rarely doubles of any name. I have met a couple of Theo’s/Theodore’s, Ted/Teddy’s, Harri/Harry’s, Osian’s, Lenny’s, Charlie’s, and George’s - but not in the same group. Only met one young Frank. Imo don’t worry about popularity if it’s your fave name- there’s a much wider spread of names now than when Frank was more widely used many years ago.

Ladamesansmerci · 09/01/2025 15:26

Noah
George
Arlo
Albie
Alfie

Never met a Frank tbh!

If you like the name, just use it.

Popular names aren't common like they were in the past. My classroom was all Jessica P, Jessica H, Megan M, 3x Emily lol. Whereas now there is more diversity so even with the most common names, it's highly unlikely you'll get multiple in a class.

WildCherryBlossom · 09/01/2025 16:00

Of my DCs friends Oscar, Thomas. Charlie always seem to be referred to with name + surname to distinguish (or nickname)

Celestialwish · 09/01/2025 16:40

In my area having children with the same first letter in their names is popular. (Like the kardashians)

On my street alone there are four families like this, so we've got Rio, Rilee, Ruby, Rochelle, Romeo and Rachel. Archie, Alesha and Ainsley. Harry, Harriet and Harley and finally Steven and Stephanie.

I couldn't say if these are particularly popular names though. 😅

Noah seems to be the one I hear the most of late.

I have a 1 year old in south London and hear all lot of the following - Finn, Dougie, Freddie, June, Ezra, Noah

Ditto here in west London! But not June, I meet a lot of Judes (unless June was a typo!)
