Just intrigued as due DS1 in April and my top contender is/was Frank but it appears to have become very popular in my area recently so I am told.

lots of Archies, Alfies, Georges and Finlays around here.

Frank is a great name. I feel the same about Jude - have loved it for years and now finally due a ds and it’s skyrocketed in popularity!

ilparadodosdoltos · 08/01/2025 19:27

Amongst 11-12 year olds Theo, Lucas and Oscar very popular where we are in London. It’s all waves, isn’t it?

Whatisityoucantface · 08/01/2025 19:30

Noah, Theodore/Theo/Teddy, Arthur, Albert/Albie, Ben, Jude, George, Harry, Hugo, Reggie, Rupert, Rory, Alfie

I don’t know any baby boys called Frank actually

BoleynMemories13 · 08/01/2025 19:35

Popularity differs from area to area. The boys names I hear most around here at the moment are:-

Oscar
Archie
Teddy
Noah
Oliver
Arlo
Roman
Caleb

I don't know any boys who are just Frank, personally, but I do know of 2 babies called Frankie born in 2024 (both male).

Yerto · 08/01/2025 19:37

Hudson, Tommy, Frankie, Luca

Moreteaandchocolate · 08/01/2025 19:43

I know a few recent newborns called Leo.
Plus the ongoing popularity of Alfie, Freddie, Noah and Arthur.

MyStylish40s · 08/01/2025 19:44

Alfie

mumbruh · 08/01/2025 19:46

Alfie
Reggie
Ralphy
Finley
George

Mrscharlieeeee · 08/01/2025 19:46

Jude! I have one but he's 10. It's been my boy name since I first heard the Beatles as a child. Waited 20+ years to use it and now it's everywhere. Went for something far less popular for second DS and so far so good, it's still not popular.

Waggytail · 08/01/2025 19:47

Reuben
Theo
Leo
Ezra
Hunter
Harris/on

Always hear these when I'm at the park.

Lemonademoney · 08/01/2025 20:11

Lots of Franks, Vinnies, Ronnies, Albies. A few George’s coming through and Alfie is always popular (I work in a school and it’s interesting to see the name trends)

bzarda · 08/01/2025 20:14

I have a 1 year old in south London and hear all lot of the following - Finn, Dougie, Freddie, June, Ezra, Noah

Lemonademoney · 08/01/2025 20:16

Although I want to add please don’t let popularity put you off a name… there are swings in trends every few years. Far more important to choose the name you love.

IrrationalIvy · 08/01/2025 20:21

Henry, Arthur, Charlie. At least 4 kids of each name across DD’s Reception year (so 4-5 year olds). She left 2 Henry’s and another Arthur behind at nursery too.

KatRee · 08/01/2025 20:21

I have a two-year-old boy and I've been to loads of baby/toddler classes with him and he's been going to nursery for over a year, so we've met loads of little ones. I do know of little boys with most of the names already mentioned in the thread, but off the top of my head, the only name I can remember where I know more than one boy with the same name is Arthur- there were two in my son's nursery class at one point. So I'd say just go with whatever name you like. Yes, you will likely meet others at some point, but its not really like every other child will have the same name at all. I have only met one little Frank in the last two years.

Lamplighting · 08/01/2025 20:25

My dc has 3(!) Frank/Frankies in his class at school! No other duplicates. I always thought this was an odd pocket though. Although I do know 2 other Franks under 2. Despite this I still wouldn’t think of it as an overused name at all, more that I happen to know lots.
Other names I hear a lot are Theo, Noah, Jude, Finley, Oliver. I wouldn’t be overly worried about popularity these days though, none of these names are anywhere near as popular as the popular names used to be back in the 00’s/90’s and beyond. Go with what you love.

namechangeGOT · 08/01/2025 20:26

I have a 13 year old George! It wasn't overly popular when he was born, then 2 years later a quite important George was born and it seems to have grown in popularity!

Frank (not Frankie) is a fabulous name!

I wanted Jim when I was pregnant (not James or Jimmy!) but DH vetoed it!

Williamclimbseverest · 08/01/2025 20:27

OSCAR !!!!!

Alfie, Albie, Archie

I hear Ronnie and Reggie a lot I even know of twin toddlers called Ronnie and Reggie which is just cringe sorry.

Arlo which DH wanted for ds 8 years ago when it didn't seem as popular but that was a big no it just sounds so babyish to me can't imagine it on a grown man

MostHighlyFlavoredGravy · 08/01/2025 20:27

Theo(dore)
Arlo
Teddy
Leo
Alfie

I have yet to meet any little Noahs, interestingly, despite it's popularity, and DS1 is in year 1. There is a Frank in his class.

Fontainebleau007 · 08/01/2025 20:29

Noah

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 08/01/2025 20:29

I know 3 little Arlos, each with parents who thought they were choosing a rare and unusual name! 🙊

Marcipix · 08/01/2025 20:31

Leo- massively popular
Theo-unfortunately pronounced Feo
Logan

ThatBastardElf · 08/01/2025 20:33

Teddy
Theo
Hudson
Oliver
Jacob
Joshua

Not heard of a single Frank & my kids are between ages 7-11. Like others have said don't let popularity put you off. We chose what we thought was going to be a very common name for one of our DS's but there is only one more in his year group & certainly wouldn't regret it even if there were more! :-)

DH was so keen on it for ds1 lol I can't stand it (I apologise to anyone reading this with a son named Arlo) it just reminds me of the film the good dinosaur the character is so weak and pathetic not attributes you want in your child.

Yes I know it's just a film but still haha
