Frederick (Freddie)

Edward (Eddie)

Johnathan (Johnnie)

Andrew (Andy)

We had totally decided on Callum - but DH has decided it's too popular but his alternatives are Thor and Randy

Re: Thor
My ultra-conservative DH wanted to name DS1 Zeus or Saxon!

What happens to men when they are expectant fathers??

LittleMissMuffett · 02/05/2008 22:08

Edward my fav! You also nee to ensure that kids can be nasty and rude, so need to stop that as well.

Clary · 02/05/2008 22:08

If it's popularity yr worried about here goes with my DCs' schools (roughly as I don't know about some years)

2 x Freddie
4-5 Edward
1 Jonathon
Don't know of any Andrews.

In fact I only know one child called Andrew at all. Maybe it's a bit old fashioned as in 40-50 years ago (Mark, Martin, Richard) rather than as in 100 yrs ago (Stanley, Henry, George ie now trendy again!)

ingles2 · 02/05/2008 22:09

I like Callum too, otherwise Freddie

MrsWeasley · 02/05/2008 22:09

Frederick (Freddie) or Edward (Eddie)

Clary · 02/05/2008 22:09

I like one of yr names v much btw as it is a name in my house too

Dalrymps · 02/05/2008 22:21

Johnny or ned

AbbeyA · 02/05/2008 22:26

Has to be Jonathan-not Johnathan or Jonathon

BigBadMouse · 02/05/2008 22:40

I vote Andrew - he could be 'Drew' as well as 'Andy' if he preferred.

There are lots of Johnathans and Jonathons about - I think all three spellings are perfectly fine so go with what you prefer.

at your DH - mine has done the same (as mentioned on ante-natal thread with much on my part). I haven't backed down though...he thinks I have but I'm waiting until I am in labour to tell him - surely he'll not dare to argue under those circumstances. As far as I'm concerned, once it is on the little wristband in the ward, it's official ...btw, my DH wants Merlin (def some sort of male preg hormone gets to them at the end if you ask me )

SlartyBartFast · 02/05/2008 22:48

Andrew is a good Scottish name.

patron saint in fact

can't see what's wrong with it.

Thomcat · 02/05/2008 22:48

Eddie

or Johnnie

milkgoddessmakesthefinestmilk · 02/05/2008 22:49

andrew or thor

dont like johnny, makes me think of rubber johnies

bluewolf · 02/05/2008 22:51

Edward, Eddie and Ed are all briliant in my opinion

plus3 · 02/05/2008 23:07

I like freddie, but didn't go with the surname so was going to go Eddie (then Ed when older) but was fretting about Edward. However all immaterial as had DD! Anyhow my DS name is Thomas which is FAB name-even though there are 3 of them in his class - Thomas (him) Tom and Tommy (urrghh !!)

PinkTulips · 02/05/2008 23:12

don't like any of them tbh... johnathan if i had to pick but not keen on johnny and would drop the first h.

i do like callum though

randy? thor? why would he do that to a child?!

Joash · 02/05/2008 23:18

Jonathon

imaginaryfriend · 02/05/2008 23:21

Edward but not Eddie. Ed sounds better.

puffling · 02/05/2008 23:21

Freddie, Eddie and Andy

unknownrebelbang · 02/05/2008 23:24

Andrew.

But then I'm biased.

SlartyBartFast · 02/05/2008 23:32

me too unknown rebel

S1ur · 02/05/2008 23:38

I like them all.
I know a lovely Callum, only one mind.
I wouldn't go with any of them for my own but I like them on others!

If you're into rarer, how about Edmund?

Amapoleon · 02/05/2008 23:43

Freddie not Frederick and Edward not Eddie are my preferences.

Beauregard · 02/05/2008 23:44

Freddie
