Frederick (Freddie)

Edward (Eddie)

Johnathan (Johnnie)

Andrew (Andy)

We had totally decided on Callum - but DH has decided it's too popular but his alternatives are Thor and Randy

Freddie is really sweet but don't like Frederick. Not keen on any of the others though.

Hobo · 02/05/2008 18:11

I like Thor

Janni · 02/05/2008 18:12

I like Jonathan but not Johnny

I like Andrew but not Andy.

Are you sure you're the one with the pregnancy hormones, given your DH's choices!!

I really like Callum!

brimfull · 02/05/2008 18:12

Johnnie

Fullmoonfiend · 02/05/2008 18:14

I like edward very much. I wanted to call my firt born that but I had already got a cat called that (my surrogate child while I was waiting for DH to give me the go-ahead to start popping sprogs.

flack · 02/05/2008 18:15

THOR?? (snigger)
ok, I vote John (or Jonathan, but not Johnathan)

brimfull · 02/05/2008 18:17

flack-I agree I'm not keen on Johnathon

nooka · 02/05/2008 18:36

I like Jonathan because it has so many variations, Jon, Johnie, Jonty etc. Edward is nice too (I like Ted/Teddy although they are Theo shortenings too). Not so keen on Freddie or Andy. Thor would be fab

mazzystar · 02/05/2008 18:38

Eddie is a brilliant name.

But otherwise I prefer Thor or Randy

EmmyLou · 02/05/2008 18:48

I'm sorry - but Randy?

Is your DH voicing his concern re prospective lack of nookie post baby???

Randy Newman is a bit of a hero but still would worry about playground jokes etc.

Thor. Unless you give birth to a Norse god...

Ed, Eddie, Ted, Fred, Freddie etc are all fine. There is a particularly nice boy at DD2's school called Freddie - full of character and has everyone ROFL at school plays. I like Jonna/Jonathan - lots of diminutive possibilities with that one.

bergentulip · 02/05/2008 18:49

I like Frederick a LOT, but not Freddie.

roquefort · 02/05/2008 18:53

Frederick/Freddie
Edward/Ted (but not Eddie)

but why not stick with Callum - is it really that much more popular?

Youcannotbeserious · 02/05/2008 19:14

Thanks Guys!
(especially to Hobo who voted for Thor!!! I have NO idea what part of DH's brain that that one came from!!!)

No, they don't have to be shortened, but we already have two girls (10 and 13) who are likely to shorten it so I was trying to think of the most likely shortened version IYSWIM....

Personally, yes, I would stick with Callum but DH is adament.........

Anyway, Andrew has been eliminated...

I think it's between Frederick and Jonathan (happy to agree with everyone who pointed out it shouldn't have a H in it!)

Frederic, nn Freddie (without the k as with makes me think of Derek)

fym · 02/05/2008 19:36

definitely Frederick/Freddie

That's what my DS is called and it's a super name....

He's Freddie now and can be Frederick/Fred/Freddie or even Rick or Ricky if he chooses

CrushWithEyeliner · 02/05/2008 19:36

Eddie and Jonny are DAMN great names

Freddie not for me at all

cosima · 02/05/2008 19:38

i didn't know Margaret Mountford had children, or is she ttc

baiyu · 02/05/2008 19:46

I like Frederick, you don't meet many Freds or Freddies these days but I think it's a great name. Fond of Edward too. Pretend to answer the phone as though they're at work in 25 years time with your sons potential full names and see which rolls off the tongue best!

nhaw · 02/05/2008 21:52

test

SoMuchToBits · 02/05/2008 21:54

Jonathan (my ds's name), and can be Jon, Jonny or Jonty.

Frederick, but as Fred rather than Freddie.

chankins · 02/05/2008 21:56

I like Johnny, it is sweet and cool at the same time so will see them through childhood and adolescence, plus not too common these days !

AbbeyA · 02/05/2008 22:01

Jonathan (without the H) but not shortened, if you want to shorten it why not have John in the first place?
Edward but none of the shortened forms (that is why we didn't choose it in the end).
Andrew but not shortened.
Don't like Frederick-or Fred or Freddie.

Lizzylou · 02/05/2008 22:02

Edward or Jonathan
