OP posts:

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 18/12/2024 12:46

Fabric softener.

Mymanyellow · 18/12/2024 12:47

Beat me to it.

ThomasPatrickKeatingsDegas · 18/12/2024 12:48

Fabric softener. Sorry op 😮‍💨

Sprig1 · 18/12/2024 12:48

As above.

lotuspocus · 18/12/2024 12:48

How about something like Madeleine/Magdalena or Helena/Helen for Leni?

Fireworknight · 18/12/2024 12:49

Yes, fabric softener.

Did you mean Leona?

Lindy2 · 18/12/2024 12:50

I wouldn't name my child after fabric softener whatever my surname.

muddyford · 18/12/2024 12:50

Leonora? Otherwise definitely fabric conditioner.

SplendidUtterly · 18/12/2024 12:50

We have nicknamed our grocery delivery driver this as he always smells lovely, but very strongly of Lenor fabric softener.

Cannotorwillnot · 18/12/2024 12:51

No, don’t do it! But you could give her the name Eleanor or Helena and still shorten it to Leni (though that sounds like a middle-aged man "Lenny" short for Leonard to me).

Goodafternoonmillie · 18/12/2024 12:52

Eleanor? Elena?I would also think fabric softener.

Stormyweatheroutthere · 18/12/2024 12:53

Nori Norris? Obviously not..
How about Persil? Has a ring to it....

AudiobookListener · 18/12/2024 12:58

It's Leonora. Or fabric softener.

aloha0 · 18/12/2024 12:59

I actually love it, I think it's very sweet.

OverdueForAnEyeTest · 18/12/2024 13:02

My first thought was The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe but you’ll probably get some fabric conditioner references too. Personally I agree that it doesn’t work with your surname.

EvelynBeatrice · 18/12/2024 13:11

It’s a Spanish name - the Spanish crown princess is Llenor. What about Elinor spelled the Jane Austen way which abbreviates easily to Leni.

Mymanyellow · 18/12/2024 13:12

Just call her Leni?

EvelynBeatrice · 18/12/2024 13:12

Sorry that’s Leonor of Spain.

MrsWhites · 18/12/2024 13:14

I personally love it, there is a teacher in my sons school named this and I’ve always thought it was a beautiful name.

I think it sounds fine with your surname but you’ll have to be prepared for those who bring up fabric softner when you tell them her name.

I love Lenore! I don't think Lenore Norris works, sorry!

Moreteaandchocolate · 18/12/2024 15:24

Lenore is a lovely name, but unfortunately the fabric softener brand would put me off using it. Do you like - Leonora, Eleanora, Leona, Loren, Leonie, Helena, Elena, Penelope, nn Leni?

Strokethefurrywall · 18/12/2024 15:34

My mum is Lenore (she's 74) and I only recall one joke in the 80s from a school friend who said "I bet she lives life in comfort..."

Other than that, not one person ever mentioned the fabric softener!

I'm obviously biased as I love the name and would have pushed for it if I'd had a girl.

My mums nn is also Leni. If you love it, go for it!

PrincessOfPreschool · 18/12/2024 15:47

Not with 'Norris', sorry. You could just have:
Leni as a full name. Why not?
Eleni
Madeleine (Leni for short)
Lina, which is similar and a pretty name in its own right.

shoopshoopdedoo · 18/12/2024 16:46

It’s too fabric softener for me, too.

Love Leni though! I’d use with Helen(a) or Eleanor.

DuchessOfSausage · 18/12/2024 16:48

I know a Lenore and don't associate the name with Lenor, but I met her as an adult and she had been named before the product. Children probably would poke fun.

If you like 'Lenny', Eleni is El-enny, but people will say Ellen-y and Elaine-y.
Leni will be Lenny or Lay-ny.
