Stressing the you and the subjectivity.

I quite like Nessie but it's unusable anywhere that speaks English. Possibly even beyond 😂

My eldest is Alana think it’s pronounced the same but spelt differently.

Yes pronounced the aamw. I love the name it's so beautiful

Sapphira (the Bible story about her is chilling).
Same for Salome and Delilah.

Marjorie/Margery is pretty sounding, but the invention of margerine has made it unusable.

i loved the name Ari (pronounced ah-ree) for my second son but I knew it would be pronounced ‘Arry his whole life so I went for a safer choice

Zeus
Adonis
Atlas
Achilles
Zebedee

I have 2 boys and chose 2 of the above names, wouldn't change it for the world.

wouldn't change it for the world.

That's especially appropriate if one of them is Atlas!!

Those of us over a certain age would be completely unable to ever say/hear it without instantly hearing Frank Bruno saying "Know what I mean, 'Arry?" !

Same goes for Ariane, Arianna and Ariadne. Smile

boy Dushko - foreign
boy Ridge - my own idea, but too way out, and probable nname 'Squidge'

girl Undine - too way out, and would probably get nicknamed 'undone'

Hades, I just love the way it rolls off my tongue but my husband would bever havw gone for it anyway!

DemBonesDemBones · 21/12/2024 22:43

Jolene. Tiffany.

DemBonesDemBones · 21/12/2024 22:46

@Happyinarcon she was a kick ass feminist. I have one 😁

BluebirdBoogie · 21/12/2024 22:48

Cnut

GameofPhones · 22/12/2024 02:09

I love the Welsh names Geraint, Aneurin, Iolo (pronounced yolo), Aled, bur we have no Welsh connections so would be a bit presumptuous.

UkuleleRose · 22/12/2024 02:19

Jemima, but here in the States that’s a no-go. Also, Tatiana, because I’d worry she’d be called Tittie-Anna.

Cnut

Knut is a variant, and not such a glaring anagram.

goodbyego · 22/12/2024 02:46

Damien. I think it's lovely, bit demonic though.

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 25/12/2024 18:06

Brenda. I think it has a lovely gentle sound, but it just hasn't come around again and everyone would think it was really old-fashioned. (Not that I will ever have to name a girl, my childbearing days are over.)

Neopetty · 25/12/2024 18:29

Jupiter.
In my inner fantasy world I'd have called my daughter that. In reality she's got a lovely but regular name!

elliejjtiny · 25/12/2024 21:08

Would love to name a child something that used to be really popular but now gone out of fashion. Like Linda, Nancy, Gary or Richard. They wouldn't be one of 3 Isabella's in their class but everyone would be able to spell it.

Waggytail · 25/12/2024 21:11

Love the name Emmanuel but its just too dated. Also doesn't go with my surname at all.
