Name Ideas for baby no 2!

MummaDaisy · 26/11/2024 21:29

Hi all!

just found out I am pregnant with baby no2! And I know I’m getting wayyyy ahead of myself but I feel like naming a baby is the hardest thing and I’d rather get some ideas sooner rather than later!

We of course don’t know about gender yet, but I have more girl ideas than boy ideas so suggestions for boys are especially welcomed!

Our first daughters name is Fauna and I’m looking for naturey sort of names and bonus points for names beginning with F! My partner is also Irish so id love to find an Irish name!

Names I like so far include:
Flora
Fionn (but that’s DP’s brothers name)
Fern
Fiadh
Frankie

let me know all your suggestions!

It's nice that you have a theme you want to stick to but please not 'Flora and Fauna' OP

Manchesterbythesea · 27/11/2024 15:31

Fiadh. One of my favorite names.
Finn for a boy?

WrongSortOfPoster · 27/11/2024 18:40

@MummaDaisy ,You insult a poster and are thinking of giving your DC a matchy-matchy name.
Hardly kind or respectful.

Calliopespa · 27/11/2024 19:14

If you have quadruplets you can go with Fauna 🦌 Flora 🌸 , Fern, 🍃 Fungus 🍄 and Fir.🌲

salamithumbs · 27/11/2024 19:23

For a girl, what about Fodhla? (Pronounced foe-la). I also like Fiadh, Fionnuala and Finola. For non Irish names: Felicity, Francesca, Freya, Faye

For a boy:
Fiachra
Fionn
Finn
Flynn (maybe too much with Flora!)

salamithumbs · 27/11/2024 19:26

Meant to say, Fodhla can also be spelt Fódla or Fóla

Vax · 27/11/2024 19:31

Good gosh. Nope.

shoopshoopdedoo · 27/11/2024 19:43

I presume this thread isn’t real? If it is, I like Faye and Ffion, Finn and Fergus.

I actually think Felicity works ok - and it’s a lovely name with a lovely meaning.

For whatever reason I actually think Finn and Flynn work fine- maybe because they don’t repeat the “ a” at the end in addition to the “f”.

Fionnula for a girl

Fionnula for a girl

Fauna and Fionnula?

Sounds a bit like fawning and canoodling …

NeedSomeComfy · 26/11/2024 21:46

This is a joke right? Surely you're not actually thinking of calling your children Fauna and Flora?

Imagine coming on a thread purely to be so rude. Life would be dull if we all had the same taste don't you think?

Mandarinaduck · 27/11/2024 20:24

Cressida
Ferdinand

ThisMerryScroller · 27/11/2024 20:33

I actually like the names Fauna and Flora, and think it goes well. I didn’t know that they went together in other ways before reading this thread. But still don’t see a problem with it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there’s a way of saying it… there’s no need to be rude or make the OP feel bad for names she likes.

Personally from other suggestions on the thread, if your wanting to stay with the letter F. I like the names Fiadh, Florence , Freya

For a boy, Fern, Fox , Forest , Faelan.

Congrats!

WrongSortOfPoster · 27/11/2024 20:45

Fauna and Forest? Sounds like a rewilded petting farm.

GoldenLegend · 27/11/2024 21:18

Fenella
Felice
Fabiane

@Calliopespa @Fireworknight @Moreteaandchocolate
thanks for all your suggestions! Got some good ones in there! I personally like Forest but my partner won’t go for it as he just thinks of Forest Gump 😂😂

Our 2 year old grandson is called Forest! ☺️

Flora, Fauna and Merryweather are also the names of the good fairies in Sleeping Beauty. If OP likes the names, then it’s not a big deal.

No we genuinely like the idea of it as they go together of course. What would be so wrong about it?

Their whole lives would be endless teasing and ridicule that’s why. You may not agree or like it but let’s be serious.

How about Fia? - In Portuguese and Italian, the name means “weaver,” and derives from the classic name Sofia.

The name Fia derives from Latin origins, specifically from the word flamma, meaning flame. Ancient cultures held flames in high regard, symbolizing vitality, passion, and enlightenment. The name Fia embodies these fiery qualities, representing the inherent power and colorful spirit within an individual.

Throughout history, the name Fia has appeared in various forms across different cultures. In ancient Rome, for instance, Fia was used as a given name exclusively for girls, signifying their vibrant personalities and captivating presence. Additionally, the name found its way into old Norse culture, where fjrir denoted the number four in Old Norse. Fia, influenced by this etymology, came to represent the concept of completeness and strength, symbolizing the four cardinal directions and elements.

In modern times, Fia has gained popularity as a unisex name and has become more prevalent across different cultures. This can be attributed to the growing appreciation for names with unconventional and unique origins. The name Fia holds an enchanting quality, evoking a sense of energy and radiance, capturing attention in a world where individuality is revered. Present-day usage of the name encapsulates the enduring allure of flames, representing both inner spark and external beauty. As a result, Fia has become a favored choice among parents seeking an evocative and compelling name for their children.
