Hi everyone! I am looking for a boy's name that starts with E as my name is Elsa. I like names that are not very common in the classroom like Liam, Oliver etc. I prefer a name that is elegant, strong and with a British and international sound too. Which of the following combinations sounds interesting to you? :-)
I am open to other suggestions of names too. So Far, I like Eric, Patrick and Adrian.

Eric Frederick
Eric Franklin
Eric Patrick
Eric Adrian

Thanks for your insights! 😘

I can't say I'm keen on Eric but then I'm old (67) and when I was young it was an old man's name. It was also perceived as a bit naff, rather like Derrick or Norman. I love the name Patrick but you really can't have Eric Patrick. Why not just call him Patrick.

LadyGabriella · 19/11/2024 13:54

Ethan Francis

Skybluepinky · 19/11/2024 14:02

Eric is a cartoon character name normally the bafooon, if that is wot u r looking for it’d b perfect.

dermalermalurd · 19/11/2024 17:59

Patrick is the only name I like there ( Irish rather than English). Eric is reminiscent of Eric and Ernie but that is probably a generational thing. Fred has been done to death. And also Fred west.
Each to their own though.

Moveoverdarlin · 19/11/2024 18:04

Eric is awful. It’s just awful. It’s not like a classic name that stands the test of time like Edward, Arthur, Henry or William. To me it’s just a dated old man’s name like Barry, Norman, Reg, Derrick, Ken etc.

It would be like calling a newborn girl Brenda or Maureen.

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 22/11/2024 21:57

I like Patrick more than Adrian in absolute terms, but I definitely think Adrian works better with Eric. Otherwise it sounds too "rick-y"!

Eric is a great name. I live in Scandinavia and it's very cool and fresh name here. Same with Elliott, I know a couple that has a Max and Elliott and they are gorgeous.

Btw I think it's very rude for some people to comment saying that the name is ugly or horrible etc. When you have specifically said you are considering it. When you're pregnant the hormones make you very vulnerable and these kind of comments are not helpful. Try to ignore this and dont let them put you off the name. You will never find a name that everyone likes and your choices are really good. Go with Eric, it is strong and handsome!

@Leeloo1233 I do appreciate your perspectives and kind words. You're 100% right. 😘

I'm not keen on Eric. It is an old man name to me, (maybe it's coming back into fashion I have teens so I wouldn't know)

Isnt it also short for erection?

I would agree that Adriansare 60 years old. I associate it with Adrian Mole

Patrick is nice

Elliot isn't an old man name. The two I know are in their teens.

OnTheBounce · 30/11/2024 19:42

Again, maybe generational, but Adrian to me is either Adrian Mole, or a middle-aged bloke in socks and sandals - it was a bit of a Guardian-reading, vegetarian vicar name in the 80s. (Sorry.) Similarly, Eric is a knotted-hankie-on-head, cheerful grandpa and/or Northern comedian.

I can see how Eric's having a revival, though!

Adrian and Eric are such geeky terrible names.

Adrian and Eric are such geeky terrible names.

@WalterdelaMare The term "geek" has a few meanings, but generally, it refers to someone very passionate or highly knowledgeable about a particular subject, often related to technology, computers, or niche interests like science fiction, gaming, or pop culture. Coming from the AI industry myself, I find your comment to be a great compliment. As for terrible, I find this statement quite strong and without even a justification makes no sense to me. I find these names quite cool and that's the reason they are on my list.

@Skybluepinky I don't care about cartoons and maybe this reference makes more sense to old people and not the young generation. Those being born now, so that is irrelevant to me. So much so that by the time the baby is older these people referring to such cartoons might not even be alive.

Edited

@Moveoverdarlin I don't think so! These names you mentioned are just too boring, and in the classroom, there are plenty of them!!! I find the name Eric will be different from others. It sounds quite modern, bold and strong.

Probably is. I can't understand why you would ask for opions and dismiss all the opinions

Because I don't like certain opinions, as simple as that! This is a forum where people can agree and disagree. No problem!😂

@Bigearringsbigsmile Please smile! This is a forum for people, by people, and among people—not an AI. Just so you know, AI only functions because people like myself in the IT industry write algorithms and give commands to computers. There are always people behind it. AI does not have its own life.😂

I adore the name Patrick!

Elliot always sounds rather distinguished to me!

Eric Frederick

bit too Trumpian for my taste.
