Barney 100%

Dislike the other two

dancerdog · 04/11/2024 19:09

For a boy or girl?

Hoppinggreen · 04/11/2024 19:13

The first 2 have a very different vibe to Barney

MistyF · 04/11/2024 19:15

These are all masculine names, so I don't think she's naming a boy.

@boogiewoogie24 I dislike them all, but Jackson is the best of these. I think Barney might be OK with nickname Barn, I think -ey is horrid with Barn sound. I think Jenson is only for gangsters, though.

Needmorelego · 04/11/2024 19:20

Jackson is ok. He'd end up as Jack which I like.
Jensen.... not sure. I don't think it's odd but it feels a bit clunky.
Barney is a giant fricking purple dinosaur that has a creepy voice. Sorry.....but it is 🙁

orchid81 · 04/11/2024 19:22

Barney is a dinosaur and a dogs name. Jenson is okay but Jackson is best.

GoodVibesHere · 04/11/2024 19:24

All awful

SpeculatingRooks · 04/11/2024 19:26

I like Jenson!

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 04/11/2024 19:26

Jackson

OliviaRodrighost · 04/11/2024 19:27

I picked Barney but I also quite like Jackson. Jenson is really not my cup of tea.

KirstenBlest · 04/11/2024 19:27

I like Barnaby 'nn' Barney, Jens (if you have the heritage), and Jack.
Not keen on Jenson or Jackson, but they are fairly popular.

Mipil · 04/11/2024 19:28

Barney is by far the best but I prefer Barnaby. At least then he can use Barnaby instead of the diminutive if he gets sick of dinosaur jokes.

blackrabbitwhiterabbit · 04/11/2024 19:28

The first two are not good. I am a teacher and have had many bad experiences with those names. 🤪

anon2022anon · 04/11/2024 19:30

Barnaby/ Barney was top of my boys list ☺️

Moreteaandchocolate · 04/11/2024 19:34

I like Jackson, and Barney could grow on me (I only have the dinosaur association at the moment but that would fade when I met a real person called Barney!) Jenson is my least favourite.

Nicebloomers · 04/11/2024 19:49

Barnaby nn Barney

Firsttimebabymummy · 04/11/2024 20:10

Jackson if I had to choose as I like Jack

For a boy or girl?

Huh? Clearly they are boys names!

Jackson just makes me think of Michael Jackson. I like Jenson though.

Mademetoxic · 04/11/2024 21:14

None of them.

Barney the dinosaur.

Jenson is too American.

Jackson is a surname.

MirandaBlu · 04/11/2024 21:42

I'm not crazy about Barney as a stand-alone; it kind of sounds like an adjective. Barnaby is nice, but I like Barnabas better (but I have a thing for -s names like Elias, Matthias, Tobias, Linus, Silas, etc.) All of the Barn- names remind me, positively, of The Dark is Rising (Barney Drew was officially Barnabas).

Jackson and Jenson are both surnames, which doesn't mean you can't use them as first names if you love them, but Jackson has been popular as a first name for a much longer time. Also, think of how the names would likely be shortened - Jack is classic, Jens is less familiar for English speakers, and Jen feels like a shortening of Jennie, Jennifer, etc.

I think Barney, Jackson (those two are close), Jenson would be my order of preference.

Needanewname42 · 04/11/2024 21:49

Jenson sounds like a game, and possibly mistaken for Benson (&Hedges)

Barney sounds childish and I don't like the formal Barneby.

Which leaves Jackson and I prefer Jack, I think Jackson would end up getting shortened to Jack, Jake, or Jacky. Maybe go for the formal John nn Jacky?

Wherethewildthingsfart · 04/11/2024 21:51

Barney is my favourite although I would use Barnaby and Jensen is my least favourite.

Jensen and Jackson are very different to Barney imo.

No

SkaneTos · 04/11/2024 22:24

I am Scandinavian, and Jenson/Jensson/Jensen is a surname in my ears.
