I think if you are living in England you need to be careful of pronunciation.

So how about
Noa
Tomos
Cian
Dion
Owen
Hari
Ifan
Macsen
Sion
Rhys

Meh idk about this. My daughter has an English name and it's often mispronounced on first reading. (Think Sara, is it Sera or Sahra? Or on your list, is Cian keyan or sighan?) You get used to correcting and move on. But we mostly meet people who hear her name before they see it as we verbally introduce ourselves so it's all good.

Also I live in a multicultural area of England, all sorts of different sounding names that are unusual at first. Including lots of Gaelic spellings (Aoibheann, Aoife, Ailís etc)! But again I met Ailís outside the gate where her dad introduced her as Ailish and that's how I say it. Saw the name on the WhatsApp chat so I know how it's spelt you learn it and off you go. Wouldn't put me off a name if it was phonetically correct.

Some Welsh names are hard to get your tongue around though unless you are a native speaker. I think that's probably why op called her first child Elis - it's a nice easy name to say in english or Welsh. Some of the names suggested on here are hard for me to pronounce correctly as a non Welsh speaker living in a very Welsh speaking part of wales for most of my life. It's just something to consider that's all.

Idris. Gorgeous. Coolest Welsh boys' name ever.

AnnieBennDodd · 27/10/2024 12:42

Alwyn, Elwyn, Ellwyn and Flynn aren't Welsh.
Some of the names on the thread are misspelt.
Some of the names are dated and would be like calling your baby Ian, Darren or Craig.

Some of my favourites: Pwyll, Cennydd, Goronwy, Ifor, Peredur, Bleddyn, Gwern

My DS is Owen. We're in England and have no Welsh heritage to speak of. But it's been one of my favourite names since childhood and I still love it now.
