What other names with a similar theme are there? Floral, a bit retro (1930s kind of vibe)?

And what kind of middle names go with the floral? I'm tempted by a really traditional middle name like "Janet" or "Susan". Is that all a bit too much?

Mary as middle name.

ZanzibarIsland · 11/10/2024 00:36

I like all of those and the middle names too.

JellyTotsAreYum · 11/10/2024 00:58

Also Lily, Iris, Rose/ Rosie/ Rosa, Marguerite, Primrose, Violet, Viola, Jasmine, Ivy, Iris, Tulip, Holly, Rosemary, Petunia, Poppy, Clementine, Flora, Fleur, Heather, Myrtle. Anne or Elizabeth for middle name?

Idontlikeyou · 11/10/2024 01:08

I like all of those. I’d include:

Topsy
Josie
Iris
Ivy
Petunia (I had a hen called this)
Suki (another hen-but I use all the names I like on hens)
Polly (hen!)
Dotty (we have one in DD’s class)
Primrose (hen)
Zinnia
Mariette (might as well include all the Larkin names)

MrsBungle · 11/10/2024 01:09

I love primrose and rosemary

Highlandflapped · 11/10/2024 01:10

Dahlia

FiferPiped · 11/10/2024 01:17

You could have May as a middle for most of those flower/shrub names.

FallingIsLearning · 11/10/2024 01:20

I love the annotation of hen/not-hen.

Great names too

From your original names, I like Sorrell and Tansy.

On a botanical theme, how about Rowan? Or Floriane? (I like Florian, but it’s the male form).

EDIT - gah! I intended to quote the hen list of names.

Remember you're naming a surgeon or a high court judge or a police officer, not a baby or a toddler.....

Firsttimebabymummy · 11/10/2024 06:31

Magnolia is one of my favourites which would fit the vibe?

Lobworm · 11/10/2024 06:50

Loveday? Not a flower, but feel it fits the theme.

Moreteaandchocolate · 11/10/2024 07:02

I love your name list, especially Sorrel and Tansy - so pretty and unusual, but easy to spell / pronounce. Sorrel Jane or Tansy June maybe?

Oh, I do like month names - May, and April as middle names.

Oh, and I have an Iris already so while it's a great pick, I can't use it twice. 😅

Really love Susan. For me it's because she is an awesome character in the Terry Pratchett Discworld books. I would also think that names like that will probably increase as people use their parents names as middle names and grandparent names as first names.

Rosemary fits your floral list. I would also consider something like Pearl, Opal, Emerald, as natural but not floral.

Occasionalnamechanger · 11/10/2024 07:45

@Moreteaandchocolate

I love Posy (reminds me of Ballet Shoes). I also love Nancy and don't know why it wasn't on my list already.

@JellyTotsAreYum

Holly is another name I definitely should have thought of! Love it.
