Title says it all really. Duckie is out.
Second favourite is Spike.
I also really like Dot and Dusty.

They're fine as nicknames but give them a proper name so they can change it a little to suit their personality when they're older. eg You can call a girl Dorothy and just shorten it to Dot when she's little. Dusty is okay.

You have to remember that your kid isn't an extension of you -- and definitely won't be when they're 20, 30, 40 so won't appreciate you trying to put your personality on them through a 'unique' name that is more suited to you than to who they turn out to be.

I like Spike. I also like Dot but prefer Dotty.

It’s your kid, call it whatever you like <shrug>

ScottBakula · 04/10/2024 21:55

@magicstar2020, how about , Terry/ Terri , ? And spike as a nick name and follow in the great Spike Milligans foot steps .

FrazzledHippy · 04/10/2024 21:52

What about Peetree or Little Foot? Sharp Tooth? Sara is a little plain but fits in with the theme 🤷‍♀️😂

Cera is a beautiful name for a three horn but Petrie could really work here!

Mum2jenny · 04/10/2024 21:56

Petri dish??

Name changed for this OP as would be outing. I have a little girl called Dusty and she bloody rocks her name. Thankfully the real world isn't like mumsnet. Absolutely nobody cares about her name, and if they're commenting behind my back, I couldn't give a shit. She's beautiful, smart and strong and she's the most wonderful Dusty girl the world has ever seen!!!

Like the dinosaur!

The vampire is hotter!

CavalierApproach · 04/10/2024 22:05

Dusty Springfield is a cool association to have, but I’m not sure people in younger generations to come will really know of her

Literally love, buy yourself some chickens or some guinea pigs and name them at will, until you get all of this out of your system.

😂

SocksShmocks · 04/10/2024 22:05

I like Spike. Not keen on Duckie but have you considered Birdie?

ScottBakula · 04/10/2024 22:05

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 04/10/2024 22:05

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 04/10/2024 22:09

DCs dad wanted to call DS1 Spike. DS (20) told me he's very pleased I said no.

GoBackToTheStart · 04/10/2024 22:10

The vampire is hotter!

No disagreement from me there. I'm currently on S6 on a rewatch Grin

menopausalmare · 04/10/2024 22:10

No, again.

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 04/10/2024 22:10

Well, Spike Milligan was a clever and funny man. If you're a fan of his, go for it.

MumChp · 04/10/2024 22:10

Dot. Yes.
The rest no.

MumonabikeE5 · 04/10/2024 22:11

There’s a Dusty in our neighbourhood I think it’s pretty good.

I love the name Dusty.

I've got a Dottie and two other daughters with unusual names that mumsnet people would probably roll their eyes at, but funnily enough they sometimes appear on the threads of "names I wanted to use but wasn't brave enough" !

Femme2804 · 04/10/2024 22:14

I’m so sorry but all the names are pets names. Please dont cqll your child that. They will be bullied
