Is Mark just not ready for a comeback yet? DH and I both like it but I haven't met a baby Mark before! Putting me off slightly.

It's certainly more distinctive than Noah these days.

Anicecumberlandsausage · 29/09/2024 13:49

Marco?

I like Marcus too.

Stradlater · 29/09/2024 13:54

DS is called Mark. He’s 16.

There's a teenage Mark in my family. It's timeless and not overused. He's a lovely lad, so I only have good associations with the name.

Are you related to me 😂
My Ds is called Mark. He’s 16.

Liv999 · 29/09/2024 13:56

Who cares if it's due for a comeback if you like it use it, my dh has an 8 year old nephew named Mark

I have a little Mark and it suits him really well. He is 7 now and suited him as baby Mark, toddler Mark and now as a school aged child. There are lots of unusual names in his class and more traditional Arthur, Jacob etc. For a more unusual alternative consider Bark which was his choice for a baby brother 😂

My Mark is 16!

I have a 19 year old Mark and think it is a wonderful name!

Agreed. My Mark is 16.

I would have been more surprised if it was. You just have good taste too!

My DS is a 13 year old Mark. He has never had any problems with his name. We have never regretted choosing it.

littlepurplerose · 29/09/2024 21:24

I like marcus/ markus but not really mark on its own...

BeautyPageantDropout · 29/09/2024 21:26

It's fine but a bit boring. Like Paul. We all know 50 adult Marks and 50 adult Pauls.

Yeahnoforsure · 29/09/2024 22:26

Marcus is a nice name.
Mark I don't know, it's pretty plain.
I've known many Marks , from school, from work, but only one Marcus, who went by the name of Marc.

78Summer · 29/09/2024 22:28

Mark is a great name. Go for it. Once people start to use it, it will make a come back.

AutumnGarland · 29/09/2024 22:34

I love the name Mark

Oganesson118 · 29/09/2024 09:25

Go for it. It’s a lovely name. Can I see it making a huge comeback soon? No, but I don’t think that matters. I’d rather see a little Mark or Peter than yet another Teddy or Jaxon!

This

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 30/09/2024 00:05

While don’t know a baby Mark, I do know both a Marc in his thirties and a teenage Mark. Don’t do Marc- the spelling is a hassle. Mark is fine and used in lots of countries, which is a bonus.

I can see all the simple Biblical boys names making a big comeback in 10 or 20 years (Mark, John, Simon, Joel, Paul, Luke etc), once people get fed up of all the longer, more fanciful ones - so why not be ahead of the pack? It’s easy to spell and say and I can’t see anything about it that would cause teasing.

sel2223 · 30/09/2024 02:54

Marc will just forever be

'Hi, I'm Marc with a C'

SusiSlippers · 30/09/2024 05:14

If you like Mark go for it. If I ever had another baby boy I’d call him Mark, Stephen or Michael over Noah, Teddy or Milo any day.

AbraAbraCadabra · 30/09/2024 05:19

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/09/2024 10:26

I like it - it's a good strong bible name. There were loads of Marks in my year at school, and around where I lived. There was Top Mark, Marky Mark, Skid Mark (known as Skiddy) and many more. There would probably be only one little Mark now (although Marcus/Markus seems popular).

There was always a Marky Mark! lol!

user1492757084 · 30/09/2024 06:57

Yes, Mark is nice.
Do you like Murray, Milo, Michael or Mitchell?

Firsttimebabymummy · 30/09/2024 08:20

I like it and would use it.
