Rosa, Rose, Rosie lovely
Rosamund = 60yr old

theduchessofspork · 29/08/2024 00:09

I like it but she’ll likely be called Rose or Rosie, and there are an awful lot of them, so depends how you feel about that. She might be Ros/Roz I guess, but that isn’t a nice.

BebbanburgIsMine · 29/08/2024 00:23

Rosamund is a beautiful name!

I don't like shortening of names, I don't let anyone shorten my name. I have two DDs and I didn't let anyone shorten their names either.

When they were of age to use whatever version of their names they preferred, DD1 refuses to let anyone shorten her name, and DD2 has a four letter name that can't be shortened anyway!

So, I think until your DD reaches that age, and you want her to be called by her full name and not a shortened version, you just tell people her name is Rosamund, not Rose or Rosie.

Love it!

Classic and uncommon at the same time.

DramaAlpaca · 29/08/2024 00:37

Absolutely beautiful. It means 'rose of the world' which I think is gorgeous.

user1492757084 · 29/08/2024 07:23

Cute and will get Rose, Mundy or Rosie by her friends.

Also like Rosemond, Rosalind and Rosemary.

MrsGhastlyCrumb · 29/08/2024 07:29

It's lovely. I personally like names that can be shortened according to the preference of the owner, and this can- but it's lovely in its full form.

Nicebloomers · 29/08/2024 07:37

Pretty. Classic and underused. Love Rosa for a diminutive.

Agree! I like the potential nns too.

rzb · 29/08/2024 07:42

Great name, and good variety of short forms with Rose, Rosie, Rosa, Roz/Ros, and then however their friends refer to them, so if/when your child wants to vary their name as they grow up, they've reasonable choice within their original name.

Blueuggboots · 29/08/2024 07:43

I prefer Rosalind.the Mund bit sounds miserable to me.

EmpressOfTheThread · 29/08/2024 07:44

Beautiful name! Very classy and not too common.

myrtleberry · 29/08/2024 07:59

I like Rosanna

HumphreyCobblers · 29/08/2024 08:08

I love this. Rose of the world. I really wanted it but DH vetoed it due to having a great aunt called Rosamund (why this mattered I don't know).

Kitkat1523 · 29/08/2024 08:10

Too downton abbey for me….. I like Rose

Edingril · 29/08/2024 08:12

A name a child will have to constantly spell and correct

MoralOrLegal · 29/08/2024 08:16

I really can't separate that name from Fair Rosamund, a royal mistress who (in popular legend) was killed by the king's wife. I do accept that not a lot of people would make that connection, though!

EmpressOfTheThread · 29/08/2024 08:17

Rosamund Pike - very elegant.
It's also a bonus to have a name spelled as it's said!

CheekySwan · 29/08/2024 08:21

Not keen on the mund bit at the end

I have a DGD called Rosanna, but she now gets Rosie

LeedsZebra90 · 29/08/2024 08:25

I like it, as others above i prefer rosalind, but both lovely and lots of options with it. I know a little Rosalyn which I also like.

Moreteaandchocolate · 29/08/2024 08:32

Probably my least favourite Rose-based name, sorry. I like Rosemary, Rosalie, Rosalyn, Rosalind, Rosa, Rosie etc.. , and just Rose. As others said, the mund bit isn’t as pretty, and sounds dated.

Beth216 · 29/08/2024 08:37

Rosa is lovely, the mund bit is horrid.

BCBird · 29/08/2024 08:43

Prefer Rosalind

Firebird83 · 29/08/2024 09:06

I love it! Beautiful name. I know a Rosamund in her late 20s.
