Have you read The Chalet School series op? All your names sound very much like characters from those ( posh 1940's/50's girls).
You should look them up as there's loads of under used, interesting names in them.

Everyoneesleistheproblem · 19/08/2024 22:19

Here, fandom has these. There was definitely a Rosalind too.

I quite like Kitty myself (although might be unfortunately nicknamed today)

Thanks for all these responses!

Theodora, Georgiana and Guinevere are crossed out now!

Husband loves Josephine, I love Rosalind, both still in the running but would like to choose one we both love!

There are some really good suggestions on the thread! I like Marianne, Beatrix, Cassandra (maybe not keen on the mythology of the namesake though), and husband likes Cordelia. Still mulling and looking up ones suggested...definitely strongly prefer long names with nice potential nicknames.

I love Marianne and Cordelia.

Notellinganyone · 19/08/2024 23:19

Rosalind. Fantastic name. Not Guinevere. Ginevra?

I LOVE Cordelia!

Calliopespa · 19/08/2024 23:20

Anastasia?

Notellinganyone · 19/08/2024 23:21

Dorothea? Middlemarch vibes. I wanted it for DD but DH vetoed. Hester?

Silver777 · 19/08/2024 23:26

Theodora Rose is nice, none of them say strong or classic to me tho, especially Georgiana

Meadowwild · 19/08/2024 23:31

I love Georgiana Alice. Both names are beautiful and in most UK accents the 'a' at the end of the first name is more of an uh sound so doesn't clash with the A of Alice imo.

ellenpartridge · 19/08/2024 23:38

I know someone who has a Rosalind and a Theodora. She also has Cecily so throwing that one out there as an idea too.

Seaside1234 · 20/08/2024 00:01

Gabriella
Tabitha

I wanted to have them both on list for DD but vetoed by DH, boo!

Of your list, Rosalind or Josephine

I have a Josephine and I love it 🥰 She prefers to go by Josie which I also like. Over a 20 year teaching career, I’ve come across three others. All lovely girls.

I also like Rosalind from your list. Have you considered Gwendoline instead of Guinevere? Similar sounding but less of a link to a specific character/person.

I was going to suggest Gwendoline, I was at school with one.

Pawsfourtimrstwo · 20/08/2024 02:47

Miranda?

Anastasia?

Ruth?

Anne?

Patricia or Celia?

Pawsfourtimrstwo · 20/08/2024 02:49

Forgot to say Eleonor

I love Frances as suggested by previous poster

mathanxiety · 20/08/2024 02:55

My favourite from your list is Josephine Ivy.

I like Guinevere, and also Vera. Guinevere is a stylish name imo.

Alice, from your middle names, is another I like.
Alice Rosalind sounds very commanding to my ear.

Alrernatives:
Beatrix
Christabel
Aurelia
Leonora
Stella
Alicia
Katherine
Vera

Sorrelia · 23/08/2024 22:33

Guinevere is really bad.
Josephine is beautiful, and my favourite.
Rosalind close second.
:)

yikesanotherbooboo · 23/08/2024 22:54

I like Rosalind .
I'm not a fan of Rose/Ivy/May names for middle names unless of course you are picking them for family reasons.
