I'm going round and round in circles with girls names. I guess when he/she arrives I'll know what to call her but in the meantime our list consists of....
Alice
Sadie
Anna
My other half also suggested
Arabella
Sophia
Anya

Our surname is one symbol beginning with a Gr sound, nothing seems to flow nicely which is very annoying (but obviously nothing I can do about the surname unfortunately).

All are lovely. I would choose Anya, Alice or Anna. Strong but pretty.

thanKyouaIMee · 16/08/2024 06:45

I like Anya / Anna - lovely names!

Sleepnplay · 16/08/2024 07:18

Sadie, Anna, or Anya

Moreteaandchocolate · 16/08/2024 07:23

Lovely names! Alice is my favourite! Anna and Sophia are my second favourites 😊 I also really like Sadie and Anya, especially if you want something less commonly used.

Do you want more ideas or are you trying to narrow it down?

Amtic8 · 16/08/2024 07:25

Anya or Sophia

UltramarineViolet · 16/08/2024 07:27

Alice is the best by a mile

Mumofgirls2017 · 16/08/2024 07:47

Alice or Sadie 😍

All lovely names.

My favourites, in order.
Anna Grice
Arabella Grose
Alice Green
Sophia Grail

Anya and Sadie are equal last for me.

PurpleReindeer2 · 16/08/2024 07:58

Anna then Alice

LizzieBet14 · 16/08/2024 08:07

Alice

ComealongMartha · 16/08/2024 08:09

Alice

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 16/08/2024 08:11

My DD is called Sofia so obviously that is my favourite 😂 but I love Arabella and Anya

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 16/08/2024 08:14

I think a 4 syllable name with the stress on the 2nd syllable would sound good. I teach a girl called Amelia with a one syllable surname beginning with Gr and I think her name rolls off the tongue nicely. Victoria, Olivia, Cordelia, Penelope, Elizabeth, Cecilia, Lavinia - there are lots of others!

Samzzz · 16/08/2024 08:29

Alice 🤍

FayCarew · 16/08/2024 09:03

Alice - would use
Sadie - it's OK, might use for a pet or doll
Anna - would use

Arabella - too long. Will be Bella or Ella, both overused
Sophia - Sophia/Sofia overused
Anya - ok but seems a bit feeble compared to Anna

You are over-thinking this. She'll probably turn up and you'll call her Lydia or something because it suits her better. I'd go with Anna, then you could also call her Anya or Annie as a 'nn'

I'm guessing the surname to be Gr*nt, and it's one that all the names go OK with, but as it's consonant-heavy, I think Anna goes best.

Best wishes Flowers

NewLifter · 16/08/2024 09:05

I love them all except Sadie. My favourites are Anna and Anya. Lovely choices.

Firsttimebabymummy · 16/08/2024 09:09

My favourite is Anna

Daffyyellow · 16/08/2024 09:10

Alice

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 16/08/2024 09:14

Anna is the winner. Alice is OK if you give birth to a 73yr old 😂

FayCarew · 16/08/2024 09:52

@Didshejustsaythatoutloud , I think you'd probably find that very few 73-year olds are called Alice. It wasn't much used in the 1950s.
It was a 'granny name' back then, and became popular again around 1980.

SprinkleOfSunak · 16/08/2024 09:54

Anya or Arabella.

RedOnyx · 16/08/2024 10:04

I think either a long or very short name goes Best with a one-syllable surname. E.g.

Evangeline Grant
Arabella Green
Ann Gray
Jade Grimes
Victoria Grail
Christina Grass

From your list Anya and Alice are my favourites.

ATribeCalledQuestion · 16/08/2024 11:15

Love love love Sadie 😍

dbeuowlxb173939 · 16/08/2024 12:10

I like Alice and Anna but not keen on Sadie.

Not keen on any from your DH's list sorry!

HettyCletter · 16/08/2024 12:51

I love Anya. In order of preference, I’d rank them:

Anya
Alice
Anna
Sophia
Arabella
Sadie
