Thoughts on nicknames for Genevieve?

Don't love Gen/Genny shortening but know may happen automatically, which alternatives do you guys think is better though?

Evie - feels a bit too common, although tbf I've never met an Evie and I teach primary so feel it may be localised!

Genie - cute, but she'll outgrow it

Also, any other name suggestions that have similar vibes and a pretty shortening welcome?

I think it's inevitable the nickname will become Gen

Jenny (with a soft G rather than Genny with a hard G)

Genie -why would she outgrow this nn and not other nicknames?

Sometimes nn evolve organically, so her nn could be GeeGee, Viv, Vee, Neve or Tinkerbelle

If you like Genevieve then just call her that. No need to shorten it.

Nicknames evolve from personalities rather than names in my experience. My 2 children have nicknames that are nothing to do with their names. I have a nickname from my surname not my first name. MN seems obsessed with having a set nickname prior to birth when they are grown organically in my experience in most families.

The one I know is Nev - yes like the shortening of Neville

The one I know goes by Vivi which her mum hates.

With all the will in the world you usually can't pick which nickname will end up sticking. My daughter's name is Freya, since Y7 she's been known by her friends as Yogi, and at 16 that's what she now goes by almost exclusively. Make that one make sense.

There's something slightly French about Genevieve - you could consider names such as Séraphine or Gabrielle.

Séraphine means fiery angel, apparently!

They could be shortened.

I've only known one Genevieve and everyone called her Jenny.

This is my experience, I gave my firstborn a name which I love but I didn't like the normal nickname people use, he has been known to everyone (even me) by that nickname for the last 50 years. It is just him.
