I have fallen in love with it as it is different (I don't know any Cassie's at all) but pretty.

What do you think?

Neighbour's dog is a Cassie but she's very friendly

Mumcentreplus · 12/04/2008 17:11

lmao@dog comments..

Flibbertyjibbet · 12/04/2008 17:14

Its a surname. I went to school with boys whose second name was Cassie, so I can't get my head round it as a first name sorry.
I do think though if you go for it to name the child officially as Cassandra then she can have a choice later on if the Cassie bit seems little girl-ish.
Just had a thought that I hope her future husband isn't related to those boys Mrs Cassie Cassie

janeite · 12/04/2008 17:17

I really like it but don't like Cassandra at all.

NorthernLurker · 12/04/2008 17:18

Cassandra doesn't do much for me but I really like Cassie. It's a very cute name for a little girl but i can see it working for an adult as well

cyteen · 12/04/2008 17:25

Thumbs up from me. I know a Cassandra who shortens to Cass now that she's an adult - great name

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 12/04/2008 17:55

My friend's daughter is Cassie. Lovely xxx

ceebee74 · 12/04/2008 19:32

Thanks for the comments - I will ignore the 'dog' comments

Am thinking of just going straight for Cassie as I am not that keen on Cassandra (weird I know).

Dh says he likes it too which is unusual as he usually hates everything I suggest.

Right, just need to decide on a boys name now...........

Sorry ceebee74 what you call your daughter is totally up to you. I liked Lucy when I had my daughter but didn't call her that because of another neighbour's dog and wish I had.

claraquitetirednow · 12/04/2008 19:37

Like it but makes me think of Lassie....

bluenosesaint · 12/04/2008 19:38

I think its a beautiful name, but the only thing that matters is if you like it

If you don't like Cassandra then don't use it. We did the same with dd2 as in we didn't like the formal version of the name so therefore we didn't use it. We compromised by giving dd a formal more traditional middle name.

Good luck

ceebee74 · 12/04/2008 19:55

Bluenose - did you actually register your DD with the shortened version?

Am thinking of definitely doing that as MIL insists on calling DS by his full name even though we never ever use it - at least by registering the shortened version, that will stop her doing that.

bluenosesaint · 12/04/2008 21:01

Yes, we registered her with the shortened version. We really really didn't like any longer, more formal versions so didn't bother with them.

We love her name and were never going to call her anything else, although it was always at the back of my mind that maybe she would need a more formal name at some point. Our compromise was to give her a formal, traditional middle name (Elizabeth) so that she could use that if she ever wanted or felt she needed to

moocat · 12/04/2008 21:08

I love it.

hippipotami · 12/04/2008 21:11

Absolutely love it!!

Moomin · 12/04/2008 21:12

another MN has a dd called Cassie but it's short for Catherine

itisme · 12/04/2008 21:33

like it but don't like cassandra

don't think you need the long version though if you're only ever going to use short one.

if you call her cassie that's who she'll be and i doubt she would lengthen it. there's always deed pole if ashe really didn't like it

DrNortherner · 12/04/2008 21:35

I went top school with a Cassie and she was lovley. Her real name was Catherine though.

Cassandra reminds me too much of Only fools and horses.
