This one is making a late charge for potential favourite for our son due next month, however we can’t decide on the long form of the name for his birth certificate. I’m not sure I love Finl(a/e)y as much as just Finn, what could our other options be please?

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 11/07/2024 15:41

Why does he need a long version

Just name him Finn and Finn goes on his birth certificate ?

TM1979 · 11/07/2024 15:42

Finn is Finn. Doesn’t need a long version.

MrsSamR · 11/07/2024 15:42

WiseMenSayNothing · 11/07/2024 15:43

Finnbar, Finbarr, Finbarre

RipleyGreen · 11/07/2024 15:43

Finbar if there’s any Irish sloshing about in your mix, but Finn is a name in itself in Ireland. I think it’s originally Norse: Finnr.

GoogleWhacked · 11/07/2024 15:44

Fintan was going to be my suggestion too, but really it doesn't need anything longer than Finn.

ginasevern · 11/07/2024 15:44

Finnegan (or Finnigan)
Personally I rather like Finnian.

Asyouwere09 · 11/07/2024 15:45

Finneas. I think it's irish x

Asyouwere09 · 11/07/2024 15:46

Sorry to add...I think Finn is a really lovely name in it's own right!!

harrietm87 · 11/07/2024 15:48

Finn is a standalone name.

Finnbar or Fintan are lovely Irish first names.

Finnegan is a surname - please don’t use this.

Foxlover46 · 11/07/2024 15:48

Fingle is my Scottish horses name

KayEmAy · 11/07/2024 15:55

I like Finn as a stand alone name! But if I was going to do a longer name, my favorite would be Griffin :)

Tulipvase · 11/07/2024 15:56

Mine is just Finn. It’s a name in its own right.

flapjackfairy · 11/07/2024 16:01

I have my lovely 2 Yr old grandson snuggling on my lap as I type. He is just straightforward Finn .
No.need for a longer name at all imo.

KirstenBlest · 11/07/2024 16:04

Alfinn/melfin/kelfin

Or simply

Finn

IamaRevenant · 11/07/2024 16:06

Both the Finns I know (1 adult, 1 child) are just Finn. It's a standalone name!

How lovely and I agree no need for a longer name Simply the name Finn

KnickerlessParsons · 11/07/2024 16:08

Joe Biden's daughter is Finnegan Biden I think. It's more of a boys' name than a girls' name though IMO.

If you're going to use surnames as first names Finnegan isn't as bad as some others (Harrison, Jenson, Jackson, Mackenzie etc)

CactusMactus · 11/07/2024 16:14

Knew a French woman who had lots of children and her last was called "Fin".

KirstenBlest · 11/07/2024 16:16

@Asyouwere09 , isn't that just a bad spelling of Phineas?

unicornwonders · 11/07/2024 16:19

finnick
