My favourite baby boy name is Louis, husband loves Jenson. Which do you prefer?

Out of the two I prefer Louis but not keen on either.

Jenson is rough.

In Germany Louis is pronounced Luis

It's only the French who don't pronounce the S in Louis

That's probably why the Louie spelling is becoming more popular in the UK

Does it really matter how it's pronounced in Germany or the USA?

FWIW, Jenson would be Yens-on in Germany.

Louis - pronounced Louie, not Lewis.

Jenson is a pupil referral unit name.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/07/2024 09:56

Our cat is Louie - he is definitely a naughty boy.

Louis is a nice classic name. I don't like Jenson because it's one of those surname names which I always dislike. I think they sound American.

Louis - but only if pronounced properly!

I agree.

Or Lewis.

and it isn’t necessary true either. I - native German speaker that I am - happen to know at least one German Louis whose name is pronounce Loui/without the S.

Luis is a different matter, btw.

Such different vibes. Louis is classic. Jensen is very chavvy / naughty boy / you know they'll end up in jail. It's similar to Jackxxsen, Tyler, Tyrone, Jayden, Brayden etc

@PumpkinsAndCoconuts , accents and pronunciations can vary within a country. Countries like France, Spain and Italy have regional languages. I don't know about Germany.

I know a Luis and he doesn't say his name as Lewis. It's more like a Lu-eess (short syllables)

@Georgie743 , that's not very nice of you.

Neither.
