After a unique name?

I already have two daughters and we’re having a third child… after unique, not common names :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I have an uncommon first name and love it and never had issues or teasing at school. I loved being the only one, and not one of the 4 Rebeccas or Sarahs! Its only 4 letters long and also a place name- which isn't rare or unheard of. Its written how it phonetically sounds, but despite this, I have had it spelt wrong- often by adults.
Think of Jane. I've also had Jain, Jayne, Jyne, Jyane, Gane! What I'm trying to say is that even a 4 letter, IMO easy name, can be tricky for some!
Here are some other ideas:

Coral/Coralie
Verda
Briar
Azure
Yvonne
Chaya
Rain/e
Rayna
Nia
Layke

Cren

Dalton
Colt/Colton

Do you mean unusual as opposed to unique? Unique means one of a kind, so unless you make it up there with always be other people with the same name. My mum has a unique middle name because her dad misheard a French name when he was away during the war, there is literally no one else on the planet with her middle name.

usernother · 24/06/2024 20:05

Having worked with loads of children's names, it's often hard to work out which way round the names are when they have a first name that was traditionally a surname.

Blouson · 24/06/2024 20:11

Do you understand what unique means? If so then you'll just need to make a name up yourself.

StormingNorman · 24/06/2024 20:11

Domino and Cosmo for a girl are both traditional but ‘unusual’. Also quirky as they sound like boys names.

JurassicClark · 24/06/2024 20:12

When people say unique, they mean unusual

They could always say unusual, then. I like a bit of language pedantry of an evening; precision is a good thing. Unique is a binary, something is or it isn't.

Come to think of it, how about Unique, OP?
Youneek?
Euneke?

Always remember you are unique, just like everybody else.

Brick 😂😂😂😂

Brick is the husband of Maggie in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.

(Paul Newman in the film version, which is why I remember, because Paul Newman was a god)

I get fellatio hornblower in my head. I know that's not his name but oh well.

We have a Wynter & Summer in the family. I do quite like 'Cyd' now you've said it :)

I thought you’d written cjd for a moment - a fatal brain disease. Would Cyd be short for Cydknee?

Domino and Cosmo for a girl are both traditional but ‘unusual’. Also quirky as they sound like boys names.

Cosmo is a boy’s name. Cosima would be the feminine version.

bridgetreilly · 25/06/2024 18:32

If you like Cyd, then I would say Sidney for a boy and Sidonie for a girl. Sorted.

StormingNorman · 25/06/2024 18:38

Oriunda · 25/06/2024 18:25

Cosmo is a boy’s name. Cosima would be the feminine version.

It’s gender neutral to use the modern terminology. In old money, it can be used for both.
