Hi guys,

We're struggling to pick baby's name so I thought I'd do a wee poll!

Maisie Leaf or Lottie Leaf - please can we have your votes to help us decide :)

Thank you!

Is leaf the surname or middle name?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/06/2024 13:18

I’m generally a fan of alliteration- but I think Lottie Leaf is a bit too cute for an adult personally. Would you consider Charlotte Leaf on the BC then it gives her another option when she’s older. “Lottie Leaf” as a nickname is adorable on a toddler though!

If you hate Charlotte, then I’d stick with Maisie - at least it has another nn option (Mae) if for any reason she’s not keen.

NuffSaidSam · 21/06/2024 13:20

Maisie by a country mile.

Because I have an irrational hatred of the name Lottie.

DuchessOfSausage · 21/06/2024 13:20

Have you considered Lettie?

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 21/06/2024 13:21

Both names are nice but the leaf is too much and should
Only be used as a nickname not in a birth certificate or used in school etc.

Workawayxx · 21/06/2024 13:22

Maisie is lovely and goes with Leaf.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 21/06/2024 13:23

Maisie 100%

unless you go Charlotte otherwise I personally find. Lottie a bit cutesy good for a toddler not an adult

WindowViper · 21/06/2024 13:23

I like Lottie as a NN for Charlotte. But on its own it’s too twee, especially if Leaf is a surname.

Charlotte would be good, giving her options.

I really don’t like Masie.

WaltzingWaters · 21/06/2024 13:25

Is Leaf the surname or middle name?

I prefer Lottie, but I don’t think Lottie Leaf goes together, so if Leaf is the surname I’d go for Maisie.

Have you considered Lettie?

Literally looks and sounds like lettuce leaf.

InTheRainOnATrain · 21/06/2024 13:26

Whilst I like Lottie it runs into Leaf and sounds like ‘lot of leaf’ which having lived in a legal state in the US I think sounds like a cannabis dispensary.
Maisie is nice and no issues with your surname so I’d go with that.

DuchessOfSausage · 21/06/2024 13:31

Of course, Lettie short for Lettice. Lettice Leaf sounds delicious.

Other possibilities: Bay, Sage, Sorrel, Saffron, Laurel, Olive, Paige, Lucy ...

York12345 · 21/06/2024 13:43

Wow wasn't expecting so many replies so soon! Thanks guys.

I'm afraid we're stuck with the name Leaf as it's our surname 😅But I am now considering changing it by deed poll 🤔

Love both names but do agree that Maisie possibly goes better with the surname

Firsttimebabymummy · 21/06/2024 14:19

Maisie by far!!

ApolloandDaphne · 21/06/2024 14:24

Maisie for sure with your surname.

DuchessOfSausage · 21/06/2024 14:27

Apologies, @York12345 , it's a lovely surname but there are some names you might want to avoid.
I'd stay away from names starting with T.

DuesToTheDirt · 21/06/2024 14:27

Lottie Leaf sounds like a character in a book for 5 year olds.

TomatoSandwiches · 21/06/2024 14:27

Maisie, not Lottie, Charlotte would be nice but not Lottie.

AngelDelightButNotStrawberry · 21/06/2024 15:34

Not Lottie Leaf! Sounds like some children’s cartoon character. Charlotte would be ok.

Not a fan of Maisie personally sounds too twee.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 21/06/2024 16:37

Oh I see. In that case I think a more formal name such as Natasha
Ellen
Mary
Madeline
The ie endings are a bit twee
For leaf however Maisie is the better one.

50shadedofmagnolia · 21/06/2024 16:40

Lottie Leaf sounds like a character from a baby book so I'd have to pick Maisie

DuchessOfSausage · 21/06/2024 16:41

Clover Smile

maw1681 · 21/06/2024 16:44

I like both names but with your surname would go for Maisie for sure

Have you considered Lettie?

Or Lettice!
