Naming a sister for Fleur and Rafferty

Confusedmum74858 · 14/05/2024 23:36

Love the name Daphne but worried it doesn’t flow with Rafferty and the similar nickname thing of Raffy and Daffy
Although not sure if I care that deeply as I still love the name
My second choice is Honey which I’ve loved since Fleur and was too scared to choose Honey!
Other suggestions welcome, hopefully you can catch my vibe from the names I’ve mentioned!
Thanks 🤍

I think Daphne goes beautifully with Fleur and Rafferty (you have great naming taste)! She could be Daph, Fifi, Fen for short.
The first name that came to mind reading your children's names was Cora. Others:
Clara
Odette
Ophelia
Clementine
Primrose
Margot

MeanLeanRunnerbean · 14/05/2024 23:44

Also, if you love Honey I say go for it!

Crystalball84 · 14/05/2024 23:51

Iris 😍

SabrinaThwaite · 14/05/2024 23:53

Honor?

RogueFemale · 14/05/2024 23:55

Daphne is good. Stick with Daphne.

Mandarinaduck · 14/05/2024 23:56

What lovely names.
I think I would avoid Daphne because of Raffy and Daffy.

Some other ideas:
Anouk
Bella
Tamsin
Danaé

I have a real soft spot for Honey as a name

Also love Fleur and Rafferty!

I am not so keen on Daphne - but I think that is because I grew up living next door to the most miserable woman called Daphne.

My dog is called Honey.

mathanxiety · 15/05/2024 02:13

I wouldn't use Honey as a name for a baby who will grow up and be an adult one day.

I think Daphne and Rafferty are too matchy.

A French name might go well with Fleur.

Honey is awful. Daphne is lovely.
I genuinely would change my name if I had to introduce myself as Honey.

Moreteaandchocolate · 15/05/2024 06:51

Daphne is lovely! I wouldn’t worry about the Daphne / Raffy thing, they are different enough to not be an issue.

I would personally hate to be called Honey as an adult - so I’d avoid that.

Honey is very pretty.
If you want to stick with the F sound but aren't sure of Daphne then also consider Ophelia or Phoebe?

Think you’ve blown the other names out the water with this beauty of a suggestion 😍

I love the name Daphne, and while I agree it doesn’t go well with the name Rafferty, how much does that matter? No one ever asks me the names of my siblings and it never occurred to me to wonder if our went together or not.

Imisscoffee2021 · 15/05/2024 08:12

I love the French name Ondine

The problem with Honey is that cute as a button kids grow into adults.

Jonathon Ross had children with cutesy names and now as adults the names are anything but suitable!

Felicity

Confusedmum74858 · 15/05/2024 09:32

As lovely as some of these suggestions are, I think my heart is still set on Daphne tbh and I’ll just have to get over the slight mouthful it is with Rafferty. I think Delphine is nice but it reminds me too much of the donkey from Peppa Pig. Also loved Xanthe but not as Much as Daphne and it still has that similar sound anyway.
Not surprised by the reception for Honey, I know it’s a bit of a marmite name and most people seem to hate rather than love - I just think in this day and age it won’t matter as much when she’s older and goes to school with kids with all sorts of weird and wonderful names. But I do definitely take the comments on board and there was a reason we didn’t choose it when our older DD was born.
I do also love Coco, but OH not keen (although he loves Honey so make it make sense!)
And names from Greek mythology, Scandinavian names, French etc

Daphne is lovely but I can see why you’re concerned. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of Honey and would use it as a middle rather than first name.

My first thought was Margot. I also think Isobel would go very well but appreciate that’s a more popular choice. Or Ophelia?
