Any thoughts?

OP posts:

I am not a fan, sorry

And what are you implying by this comment exactly?

That Jaxon’s mother is naive and does not realise this name will get her child judged.

GiddyCrab · 28/03/2025 01:18

Awful.
Jack?

LetTheWindBlowBackYourHair · 28/03/2025 12:58

Never ask opinions on 'Jay' names on Mumsnet, unless you have a very thick skin! 😄

I don't mind it myself, any spelling, though it is popular, I quite like Jax as a nickname.

Mobe · 29/03/2025 22:29

Jaxon is actually a more popular spelling than Jackson, and it's been in the top 50 names in the last few years so it's actually very common.
It has already sharply peaked and is now dropping in popularity, indicating that it will 'date'

If you like the sound Jackson is a nicer spelling, easily Jack as he chooses, sounds a bit like a country singer

MajorCarolDanvers · 29/03/2025 22:31

Awful.

jackson is bad.
jaxon is worse

Missey85 · 29/03/2025 22:37

Where I'm from that's a bogan name

evtheria · 29/03/2025 22:41

Don’t like it, sorry…
I don’t actually like Jackson as a first name anyway, but think this version does seem like the parent was trying very hard to add an edginess to the name.

But: if you really love it… 🤷‍♀️

Are you australian op? It is awful.

Am I missing something funny or is this post just offensive?

Calliopespa · 29/03/2025 23:04

I think the spelling Jackson is much better.

The name Jack is better still.

I know thos is a zombie thread, but bloody hell, these answers!!!!
Christ almighty, is everyone on here an outright judgemental snob?
My teenage DS has a good friend named Jaxon. His manners are exemplary. He is incredibly polite, by far the most polite of all DS's friends. He is an extremely nice boy with a great personality. Funny. A loyal friend. Bright and eloquent. Good looking, too.
I know him well enough as a guest in my home over the years to know that he would never be as rude, condescending and judgemental as you lot on this thread.
Those of you using the word 'chav' to describe someone named Jaxon are demonstrating societal racism and it is deplorable.
Every one of you ought to be ashamed.
And a paediatric nurse joining in with all this leaves me speechless.

LittleGwyneth · 12/09/2025 12:20

It's genuinely unfair on the child, it's a massive social marker and it will mean people make assumptions about him before they meet him.

It was a horrible thread, I remember it.

Name threads are a funny one because actually the op is always wanting (well, mostly wanting; sometimes they huff off and say that's the name they have chosen and everyone else's ideas are foul) to get a gauge of how the name is perceived, which is so much better done anonymously because friends normally say "oh how lovely." So I think honesty is justified.

But some of the posts in this thread were hitting much wider than the name itself. Uneducated mother, for instance. Some mums are not well educated, and that's just rude.

Jax is slang for toilet here 🤦‍♀️

Oooh, dates right back to Shakespeare and before when a "jakes" was a chamber pot! Would love to know where "here" is!

RuthW · 12/09/2025 19:10

I like it. Much nicer than Jack

Holdonforsummer · 12/09/2025 19:26

@NotUsually The problem is, there will always be exceptions to the rule ( I know a Jayden who is a chorister at St Edward's etc). But you can’t know how the child will turn out, we can only give our opinions on the name in general. And unfortunately for me Jaxon screams American and can’t spell
