Hi,
we like both, both work well with our surname. Curious if there is an obvious standout between the two ☺️

thanks so much x

For me it's Imogen, such a classy name, I'm not a fan of Florence at all but that's just me

LittleMonks11 · 01/05/2024 17:22

My dearly departed nanna was a Florence and hated being called Flo. It reminds me more of Florence and the Machine nowadays though. I'd pick Imogen.

NetMum2 · 01/05/2024 17:32

I really like both, but went with Florence!

Waferbiscuit · 01/05/2024 17:33

Imogen. Florence is overused and Flo is not nice.

goldenretrievermum5 · 01/05/2024 17:34

Florence 100%

Imogen is so clunky and dated

WorkCleanRepeat · 01/05/2024 17:35

I would go with Imogen purely because my DC's infant school is full of variations of Florence at the moment (Floss, Flossy, Flo)

EmmaGrundyForPM · 01/05/2024 17:37

We had both on our list but ended up with two boys. We decided on Imogen because I didn't like Flo or Floss as a NN. Never got to use it though!

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 01/05/2024 17:39

Florence. I know it's an old-lady name but I love it. Imogen seems 1980s to me.

JenniferandJuniper · 01/05/2024 17:42

Florence

OrangeLemonLime24 · 01/05/2024 17:46

4 girls called Florence in my daughter’s year (age 7) so over 10% of the year group are called Florence! No Imogens.

Based on the above anecdata, I’d opt for Imogen. 🙂

Torithevictory · 01/05/2024 17:47

Ah ok Florence seems super popular.

i would never think of Imogen as dated

Both beautiful names

IDontLoveTheWayYouLie · 01/05/2024 17:52

Imogen

MaggieFS · 01/05/2024 17:56

Imogen is beautiful.

DramaAlpaca · 01/05/2024 17:57

That's a really difficult choice. Both are gorgeous.

I slightly prefer Florence, I think, but personally I'd have to choose Imogen as it goes with my surname.

Myglassishalffullish · 01/05/2024 17:57

Don’t like either to be honest
I think Imogen is hard and Florence (and it’s NNs) the complete opposite … wet 🥴

Nicebloomers · 01/05/2024 18:00

Florence by a mile. Flora/ Florrie nickname. Imogen is nice enough but dislike Immy nickname.

Berlinlover · 01/05/2024 18:01

I don’t like either name.

ZiggyZowie · 01/05/2024 18:02

Persephone

Pandora

Phoebe

Imogen

ebts · 01/05/2024 18:04

I love both those names. Florence doesn't have to be Flo, I had a great-aunt whose shortened version was Florrie.

FlyingPizzaMonkey · 01/05/2024 18:05

I’m not a huge fan of either. When my DS was born I felt like every girl was either a Florence or an Imogen. They’re both really popular so they’re much of a muchness tbh.

I guess I know more Florence’s than Imogen’s.

Snugglemonkey · 01/05/2024 18:06

I love both. Some people refer to periods as aunt flo though. So that has always put me off Florence.

Moreteaandchocolate · 01/05/2024 18:28

I love Imogen - one of my favourite names! It’s one of those classy names that’s not dated to any particular decade. It suits all ages and Immy is gorgeous as a nn too.

Florence is nice too but it’s definitely having a moment, and it remains to be seen how well it will date.

TakeOnFlea · 01/05/2024 18:34

Was Flimojim suggested on the other thread?

AppleCrumbCake · 01/05/2024 18:35

Florence
