Eden or Eloise

Eden - less likely to be shortened. Lovely meaning. Goes with brothers biblical names. ? Too unisex?

Eloise - more likely to be shortened. Doesn't necessarily fit with Brothers biblical names.

Thank you.

I know a couple of Edens who are ‘Edie’ day to day so I think it can get shortened easily. Eloise is traditional and classic so presumably will fit well with biblical boys names.

I prefer Eloise.

Eloise is my personal favourite- I can see what you’re saying about it being more likely to be shortened, but I find it such a pretty, timeless classic that I still love it anyway.

Eden has quite a trendy feel, although I know it’s traditional / biblical, it’s having a bit of a moment so doesn’t feel such a classic to me. I do like it, but it’s just less m to my usual style than Eloise.

I prefer Eloise

CamaMass · 21/04/2024 10:08

Prefer Eloise.
And Eden can be shortened- Edie

AngryBird6122 · 21/04/2024 12:25

Prefer Eden

BoleynMemories13 · 21/04/2024 12:27

I love both but actually think Eloise is more traditional, despite not being in the bible. I do really like Eden but it is quite trendy. It is unisex, but has definitely shifted to being seen as more of a girls name in recent years.

Both are lovely but Eloise wins for me if you like traditional.

Eliza or Eleanor could work too?

DisplayPurposesOnly · 21/04/2024 12:34

Love Eden.

Prefer Elise to Eloise. Or go full monty with Héloïse.

pambeesleyhalpert · 21/04/2024 12:37

I've just had an Eden and get lots of compliments on her name. I love it

loropianalover · 21/04/2024 12:39

Love both, hard to pick a favourite.

Maybe Eden if it fits better with siblings names?

twelvexahomob · 21/04/2024 12:43

eloise

MsMajeika · 21/04/2024 12:43

Eden is gorgeous.

Eloise is too traditional for my liking.

usernother · 21/04/2024 12:58

Eloise is a beautiful name. Eden will be Edie.

KirstenBlest · 21/04/2024 13:07

Eden - too trendy. Will date when the Evie names fall out of fashion. Seems more like a brand name (e.g. garden centre)
Eloise - Bit tricky to say, might end up being Ellie. Gets misspelt.

Names don't have to match.

AndBeyond · 21/04/2024 13:39

I prefer Eloise to Eden, but prefer Edie to Ellie. How about Edith? I love it, (but know it might not be to everyone's taste)

WithASpider · 21/04/2024 14:08

I have an 18yo Eden. She loves her name and has never been called Edie. Her best friend calls her Edna but it's part of an Edna Mode (The Incredibles) joke.

Personally I think Eloise and Elodie are being suggested all over the place recently and are currently very popular.

Ellmau · 21/04/2024 14:14

Eloise.

Eden is a place in the Bible rather than a person's name.

DramaAlpaca · 21/04/2024 14:16

Eloise is beautiful but just a bit too frilly for me.

Eden is more my style, short and neat but still a pretty name.

Holstomorrow · 21/04/2024 15:07

I like both names, but Eloise just edges it for me.

pilates · 21/04/2024 15:15

Eden is beautiful

Sunnnybunny72 · 21/04/2024 15:39

Eloise. Classier.

elevens24 · 21/04/2024 16:10

I prefer Eden.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 21/04/2024 17:09

Eloise. I know Eden is in the Bible but it's a place (Garden of) rather than a person's name, isn't it?

LadyEloise1 · 21/04/2024 17:21

Eloise of course. Smile

muddyford · 21/04/2024 17:22

Eden.

FangsForTheMemory · 24/04/2024 04:39

Eloise. Classy and classical.
