We have a bit of a family theme going on with middle the name so would like to keep the tradition going with the middle name of Edward but we’re torn on the first name, the two we really like are Harrison Edward and Jenson Edward, thoughts?

I love Jenson

Is it pronounced differently than Jensen?

iamwhatiam23 · 16/04/2024 18:38

Sorry but both are awful! Edward is nice though so have Edward/Ted as a first name!

Edward.
Jenson sounds like Jedward
Harrison sounds like a surname. And Harry’s son as a PP remarked.
Edward is lovely and underused. Ed, Eddie,

In fairness Edward sounds like Jedward 🤷🏻‍♀️😆

I had never heard the name Jenson until this thread.. Is it a mash up of two names or a made up modern name?

Edward or Harry.. Harrison will probably be shortened to Harry/Harris anyway

Mumsnet dislikes Jenson very much and always has!

I prefer Jenson, there are 3 in our large Primary School and lots of people I know like the name. It's not seen as a 'downmarket' name. Plus Jenson Button is lovely!

DuchessOfSausage · 16/04/2024 20:16

@KayEmAy , depends where you are. Jens is usually Yens, in which cade Jensen would be Yensen, but Jensen in the UK is pronounced the same as Jenson.

I know a lovely teenage Jenson. Nice manners. Bright, sporty, teachers loved him.

I’m sure, but it’s gone south since then

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 17/04/2024 00:53

Definitely call him Edward , classy & nn are grown up too .
Jenson is beyond awful as is Harrison is rather bad !

whatsbestforme · 17/04/2024 01:17

I know a Harrison and a Jenson from the same family.
I'd never heard Jenson before this one.

Edward✔️
Ed ✔️

Harrison

I’m biased, as I have one.

Harrison if it has to be one of the two, but they are both awful!

I hate to say it but Harrison and Jensen are both a bit down market where I am.

Edward is lovely, classic, timeless and the nn Eddie is perfect for a little one and a teen.

This.

Penguinsmum · 17/04/2024 04:26

Edward is by far the nicest.

CHEESEY13 · 17/04/2024 04:35

Either.

As long as you don't pick the name Lee. For some unknown reason (co-incidence?) every time I go through the newspapers there are always a crop of court cases usually featuring at least two 'Lee's'.

Koptforitagain · 17/04/2024 04:38

Edward is lovely. ❤️

JoniBlue · 17/04/2024 04:43

Harrison.

Georgie743 · 17/04/2024 04:49

I'm a teacher (in Australia) and have never met a Jenson. Honestly it sounds like a name of a feral little boy (reminds me of a Jayden, Brayden, Kayden, Braxton kinda vibe). Harrison is nice, fairly popular. Edward is lovely.

Haha this is exactly what it’s like in my DDs school, all those names are from the same feral families.
