Harrison or Jenson?

We have a bit of a family theme going on with middle the name so would like to keep the tradition going with the middle name of Edward but we’re torn on the first name, the two we really like are Harrison Edward and Jenson Edward, thoughts?

Robson Green's father is called Robson Green

RoseMartha · 15/04/2024 14:33

Another vote for Edward as the first name.

If not then Harrison

Robson Green's father is called Robson Green

So he should be Robsonson?

Harrison.

Our school is full of Jensons (well 3 but it’s a small school) and they are all trouble makers and come from unpleasant families.

I did not realise that Jenson is such a popular name nowadays!

@TheBirdintheCave , Jenson is a first name popularised by Jenson Button.

I know about Jenson Button but I'm pretty certain his name is just a mis-spelling of Jensen.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 15/04/2024 15:06

I know a lovely teenage Jenson. Nice manners. Bright, sporty, teachers loved him.

leafybrew · 15/04/2024 15:10

Jenson is lovely, Jenson Edward sounds perfect, not so keen on Harrison

ditto

Love Jenson

Trixiefirecracker · 15/04/2024 15:11

Jenson is awful, sounds like something off the Incredibles. Harrison also not great, what’s wrong with Edward?

GreatGateauxsby · 15/04/2024 15:16

Jenson. not keen on Harrison at all.

DuchessOfSausage · 15/04/2024 15:17

@TheBirdintheCave , why would it be a misspelling - the parents might have just liked it. His father's name is John, so it could be a modification on Johnson.
If I wanted to name my child Haris, it wouldn't necessarily be because I misspelt Harris.

DuchessOfSausage · 15/04/2024 15:21

@SkaneTos , Babies called Jenson in England & Wales since 1996 (darkgreener.com)

TheBirdintheCave · 15/04/2024 15:29

@DuchessOfSausage Either way etymologically it's still a surname, not a given name and - like I said - those are not to my taste but I understand that other people have different opinions on their usage. That is just mine.

RainStreakedWindows · 15/04/2024 15:33

Harrison is the better of the two.

DuchessOfSausage · 15/04/2024 15:33

I don't like surnames as first names either other than ones like Oliver, George, James, Henry type ones, @TheBirdintheCave . The occupation ones like Cooper and Archer are IMO awful.

Mynewnameis · 15/04/2024 15:35

Jenson Edward reminds me of Jedward (x factor)

user1567879667589 · 15/04/2024 15:37

I also don’t like either - Edward is okay though.

Cloclo93 · 15/04/2024 15:39

Hennessy or Jameson is all I see sorry 😂

BingoMarieHeeler · 15/04/2024 15:43

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 14/04/2024 23:13

Harrison if it must be between the two.
But I agree classic Edward is so much nicer - all I see with Harrison is Harry’s Son, Jenson is John’s Son etc. They are very trendy and make no sense to me anyway if the Dad isn’t called Henry/Harry or John 🤣

There’s a family at school with four boys ending in -son. I was wondering yesterday if they all have different dads 🤔 (they don’t, I’m just being a snob. But the names are nonsensical)

MotherMinion · 15/04/2024 16:01

I hear all sorts and think really? REALLY?
It's the ones the same as alcoholic drinks or the companies that sell them that leave me baffled.
I don't like surnames as first names but that's just personal preference.

CharlieBoo · 15/04/2024 16:47

Harrison if it has to be one of the two, but they are both awful!

I hate to say it but Harrison and Jensen are both a bit down market where I am.

Edward is lovely, classic, timeless and the nn Eddie is perfect for a little one and a teen.

I'll just agree with this post 👆

Harrison. Not keen on Jenson....

CheapThrillsMeanNothing · 15/04/2024 18:54

Just roll them together and have Jedward so no need to bother with a middle name.
Not a fan of surnames as first names.

BoobyDazzler · 15/04/2024 19:00

Neither are nice names, tbh.

TerriPie · 15/04/2024 19:08

Can you say what initial the surname starts with as HE? or JE? could create unintended initials?

I like Jenson best 👌
