If you wanted to call your daughter Bella

Would you just name her Bella or Isabella "Bella" or Annabella "Bella" or Annabel "Bella" (not sure if the last one makes sense).

Thoughts?

And which one goes better with Greyson/Grayson in theory?

If it was Bella that I liked and Bella I intended to use then I'd just name her Bella.

vincettenoir · 09/03/2024 13:36

I like Annabel. I would prefer that over Bella but only because I happen to know 2 people with pets called Bella.

Skiphopbump · 09/03/2024 13:38

It may not bother you but Bella is a really popular dogs name at the moment- so many of them around.

serin · 09/03/2024 14:19

I know an Adorabella. I personally don't like it.
Arabella is nice.

MerryChristmasToYou · 09/03/2024 14:37

Isabella and Arabella are both nice. Annabella seems too much.
Adorabella and Dorabella are a bit too doorbell-y

glasshalffull0 · 09/03/2024 15:06

If you like Bella and want her to go by that name then call her that. With names like Isabella you can't control their nicknames from other people she could end up going by Iz/Izzy. Annabella could be Anna etc.

CocoPlum · 09/03/2024 15:10

Bella is fine on its own.

I gave my child a name that could be shortened to a nickname with the intention of being able to call them by the nickname but actually we never bother with the long version, we probably should have just stuck with the short version!

CurlewKate · 09/03/2024 15:29

I would go for Isobel. It gives her some less frilly options. And is a fab name.

MasterPretender · 09/03/2024 15:39

I like Arabella too. It's a lovely name and just isn't as commonly used as the others.

Nicebloomers · 09/03/2024 15:47

Arabella or Arbella which is a variant

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 09/03/2024 15:51

Arabella 🥰.

MerryChristmasToYou · 09/03/2024 16:26

Isobel won't be a Bella. Not heard Arbella before. It's Marbella without the M Smile

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/03/2024 22:13

Isabel nn Bella for me. Then you have something simple, classic and elegant (although admittedly fairly popular) with a more frilly/ trendy nn.

If you hate Isabel, then I’d go Annabel or even better the rare but lovely Christabel? ( I’m not as keen on Annabel simply as personally I love Anna as a classic name in its own right but that’s just a “me” thing)

If you really want a “Bella” name then I think Arabella is the nicest - probably as Arabel isn’t used as a name in its own right so Arabella doesn’t look as frilly/ unnecessary? But either way, I’d definitely give a longer version to Bella - it’s more popular as a cat/dogs name where I live ( I guess everyone thinks their pet is beautiful 😻)

User6761 · 09/03/2024 22:54

Personally I'd go for Isobel or Annabel.

Spyral · 10/03/2024 05:12

There's Clarabel/le as an option too

BringMeSunshineAllDayLong · 10/03/2024 05:50

Bella can be hard to pull off if you are not good looking. I would have struggled with it as someone quite "plain of face" (See also Grace!). So a longer name could give more options.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 10/03/2024 06:01

Just Bella. Why give her a different name if that’s what you want to call her 🤷🏼‍♀️?

amz4 · 10/03/2024 08:37

I would just go with Bella 😊

VenusClapTrap · 10/03/2024 21:28

Bella is fine on its own.

Kelly51 · 10/03/2024 21:33

Tbh it's the number one dog name, I'd go with the longer names for it.

WhoaJayShettybambalam · 10/03/2024 21:33

I love Arabella.

Even if you use just Bella it will be shortened to Belle.

Not keen on Grayson/Greyson.

WhereAreWeNow · 14/03/2024 20:14

I would go with Isabella. It gives her options (she might end up preferring Izzy, Belle, or full name Isabella).

Bells3032 · 15/03/2024 11:26

My husband really wanted Belle (both cos he loves the princess and it's a combination of our names). We went with Isabelle as we thought she she got older it sounded more professional. Sometime in my pregnancy she became Izzy. no idea how and honestly i don't think she'd suit Belle anymore (don't get me wrong she is beautiful but she's just Izzy).

I know a couple of others Isabelles/Isabellas/Izzys but still love it
