Our baby girl is still nameless...

Hello! Had a surprise baby girl who is still nameless because we were convinced (haha) she was a boy.

Please can you send me lists of names? I really appreciate any help! I don't like typically traditional names, I want something unusual ideally.

Names I love that don't suit / fit:

Elkie
Oriana
Solene
Leni

Love but too popular (or vetoed by DH):

Luna
Nova
Noa

Thanks!

Ah, you are all amazing - thank you! Some great new names here to consider. With my son we named him before he was bor - naming a baby that's here is much trickier because at this age I feel like she doesn't suit most of the names, even if I love them!

Some of you are very observant too re my preferences, so thank you for all the effort you've put in.

I'm building out my list and I'll wait another week or so while I try them out.

She was a surprise but we were never told she was a boy, yet every sonographer (3 separate ones after 20 weeks) referred to baby as he after we said we wanted a surprise. And we thought we saw a flash of something! I was convinced!

My DH isn't good at suggesting names, just yes or no 😅

What is your son's name?

Since you weren't expecting a girl, how about Xena from the Greek for "stranger"? I don't suppose anyone will remember "Xena, Warrior Princess" by the time she's at school.

@LeopardLover does baby girl have a name yet? :)

Anametolove · 18/03/2024 12:12

Hi OP, alternatives to your original list (same feel):

Elkie --- Saskia, Sigrid (scandi vibes)
Oriana --- Irina, Nadia
Solene --- that's French, I would go for Albane or Eloise
Leni --- not sure of the origin or vibe of this one so no suggestion

Other names I like:
Meredith
Soraya
Felicity

that might help with suggestions

In the meantime time ELERI 💓💓💓

Ooh I hate these threads where someone asks for suggestions but never comes back to let us know what they've chosen!

One of the girls in DS junior school class is called RIO which means river

Rio is a gender neutral name as is RIVER so you could call DD RIVER as well

🙂🙂🙂🙂

Love it so much but here it will be pronounced "NEVAR" 😭

A key part of our baby names research was considering how they are pronounced in our home areas! We vetoed Theo / Thea as where my husband comes from they wold pronounce it Feo / Fea 🙈
