Hazel is pretty and I don't think every other child in the country is called it yet.

I swear as a traveller (not Romany) seeing Romanies/travellers/gypsies in such a negative light seems to be the last form of socially acceptable discrimination and racism.

Yes, if she wasn't of that minority. I wouldn't name a boy Navajo, for instance. Or Tamil.

I LOVE Maeve! Really wanted Maeve for my second but DH said no, so we went for a similar sounding name he agreed with.

Hazel and Rowan out of your list, although I think most would read Rowan and assume a boy.

Mavis and River are awful. The others are ok.

@polly1333 , Roma is too close to Aroma.

Much prefer Maeve or Maeva over Mavis.

River is nice but I do think of it as a boys name.

Rowan and River are boys names to me. I really like Mavis and Hazel. Mavis is the name of the teenage vampire in the hotel transylvania film series, definitely due a comeback with the other "old lady" names. Much nicer than Maeve or Meredith et al.

You hated all the other options but came up with Delphie...sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

Agree with others, Rowan is a boy's name and she'll forever be correcting people about her gender.

Hazel is nice.

River is hippyish and she might hate it if she's older. Safer to have it as a middle name.

I'm not overly keen on any of them although I don't dislike them. Hazel's the best, I think. I do like the name Rowan but much prefer it for a boy

The only River I've met is a boy. It has a boy vibe to me.

Going against the grain here, but I like Mavis! Hazel is OK. Not keen on Rowan. Dislike River.
