Whaddyall think? Lovely alternative to Florence or is it bl00dy awful?

I don't absolutely hate it. I've heard worse. Penny is a possible nn.

Actually, I object more to the middle name, Harmony.

Yup, tuppence is a fanjo (I'm from Manchester).

Wonder if anyone's ever been called Fanjo?

MadamePlatypus · 19/03/2008 20:20

Tuppence is an Agatha Christie detective.

Janni · 19/03/2008 20:20

I know a Norah Harmony. Tuppence is strange.

I still love Poppy Button, once mentioned on MN

Disenchanted · 19/03/2008 20:21

Im Manchester too.

I always used to giggle at the song on Mary Poppins ...

'Feed the birds... tuppence a bag, tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag'

Actully I still do

PrincessPeaHead · 19/03/2008 20:21

I did!
I giggled
I've heard a fanjo called a tuppence as well

Oliveoil · 19/03/2008 20:21

tuppence is a fanjo

lentengrrl · 19/03/2008 20:24

Never heard the fanny thing.

I like it. Particularly Tuppence.

mollymawk · 19/03/2008 20:25

Gosh. My friend's sister is called Tuppence. It's not really her name but what she goes by, even professionally. Hope she doesn't work with many people from Manchester...

lentengrrl · 19/03/2008 20:27

it is ringing bells with me too. wonder if it is the same one?

expatinscotland · 19/03/2008 20:28

It's naff, people.

Disenchanted · 19/03/2008 20:29

I can't believe some people don't know a tuppence is a fanjo, lol.

And to call your child it, oh its just awful!

Its like calling your son sammyscrotum or something.

lucy5 · 19/03/2008 20:29

I know a tuppence and she is always called Tuppy. It always reminds me of tupping

Boco · 19/03/2008 20:30

Tuppence Harmony kind of means Happy Fanjo. Which would be quite a nice name too.

MadamePlatypus · 19/03/2008 20:40

Never thought tuppence meant anything more than 2p, but then I have always referred to a 'front bottom' as a vagina. We call a vagina a vagina where I come from. (SW London)

MadameCh0let · 20/03/2008 14:02

We don't even have vaginas where I come, never mind naming them!! So brazen, such sinners.

We use Tuppence for fanjo too (Devon)

glazedkremedonuts · 21/03/2008 09:42

I googled fanjo name and chortle chorle rofl found this a group on myspace called that man fanjo. That Man Fanjo consists of Mark Fannin. He has a guitar, and he has a voice.`. I doubt he has a fanjo. A man who calls himself Fanjo.

Ii was sort of hoping for someone called fanjo, or Fanny-jo...but no, thank goodness.

I cant link....sorry, no idea how to...

I want to hate the name tuppence Harmony....but I cant bring myself to not like it. She will have to live up to a name like that though. Kind of reminds me of the fanjo farting threads, which is kind of unfortunate...

MrsMattie · 21/03/2008 09:43

Utterly ridiculous name.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 21/03/2008 10:04

i think tuppence is a sweet name. . . .

nether the less - it is a name for a fanjo round here too!![devon]

What a relief to find I'm not the only person who scours the birth announcements.

expatinscotland · 21/03/2008 20:18

It's DUMB, people.

Nbg · 21/03/2008 20:19

UK Birth Announcments?

Eh?

ChickenSoupDragon · 21/03/2008 20:19

Tuppence was our family word for Poo.

spudballoo · 21/03/2008 20:21

That's ghastly. My first cat was called Tuppence...because she was in a right old mess when a newly born kitten and the farmer's wife said, 'Oh I can't be bothered to name that one, she's not worth tuppence'. so that was her name. [random] lived to the grand old age of 20 however [/random]

Agree that it's a fanjo name.
