This is just a bit of fun. I saw someone post the same question on MN in 2014 and was curious how the names have changed in the last 10 years.

Mine are:

Layla
Charlotte
Myla
Ava
Ella

Gutted at the popularity of Maeve - I’m Irish living in England with a 6yo Maeve, born before flipping sex education made a load of English people like the name! She’s named after my favourite aunt and I really wanted her to have a name that was recognisably Irish. Presumably people will just assume we were big fans of the tv series.

Anyway, my list of babies born in the last 18 months:

  • annie
  • freya
  • lola
  • rosa
  • clementine

I know how you feel - my DD was born a couple of months before a very popular book was published where the main character shares her name and then it became a very popular film series as she started school.
So as she was growing up people automatically said oh like .....
I know in the scheme of things it doesn't matter but I taught her to reply that she was born before ! (I know I am petty!)

So interesting to see Maeve becoming so popular in the UK! It’s a very old Irish name, spelled Maedhbh and I wouldn’t know any under the age of 40. Ditto with Orla, would know a few in their 30s but no younger. I think both are beautiful and due a come back

I know a few Maeves and Quite a few Orlas.
there’s a character in a show called the boys who is queen maeve so maybe that’s part of it.
