I have an Eilidh, we are Scottish, pronounced aa lay, no harshness of the aye sound often quoted in here.
This is how my gaelic speaking granpa pronounced it.
I do laugh at the people who hear it, can't spell and name their child Aillie 🙄

I am Irish right enough and how I pronounce it falks tigh in with Irish Gaelic. I live in Scotland and around here it is v much ail ee (though spelt right). I try to pay attention as I want to be respectful of the culture, so this is good to know ty. I hate the deliberate ignorance of my own culture!
