I know one! She's MAY-lee. Scottish parents.

KnickerlessParsons · 06/09/2024 11:50

It looks as if it should have a dieresis - Maëlie. So My-el-ee.
But without the dieresis who knows? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Berlinlover · 06/09/2024 11:52

To be honest I wouldn’t even bother.

MerryMarys · 06/09/2024 13:55

Mah-eh-lee

3 syllables

MeowCatPleaseMeowBack · 06/09/2024 13:56

Something like "parents were trying too hard to be unique."

PiggieWig · 06/09/2024 13:57

Mayley, to rhyme with Hayley

No, it's a normal French name and there's no dierisis.
You're getting confused with Maëlle.

MerryMarys · 06/09/2024 14:45

I know a German girl called this and she pronounces it Ma eh lie.

MerryMarys · 06/09/2024 14:46

Ma eh lie where the last syllable is pronounced ee

Mikunia · 06/09/2024 14:48

Mayuhlee

It feels clumsy to say, in my south British accent

LoveRosesClimbing · 06/09/2024 14:49

Mylee like Kylie
or like Myleen Klass with no ‘n’ on the end.
looks pretty how it’s written but I wouldn’t be confident how to say it.

MerryMarys · 06/09/2024 14:50

Mayuhlee

Why Mayuhlee and not Mayehlee? Confused

BobbyBiscuits · 06/09/2024 14:51

It sounds french. Like Azelie. So may-eh-lee. But with little emphasis on the eh sound.

It's a recent trendy name based on a Breton root and it should have a tréma.
