Welsh boy name suggestions for a brother to Rhys

We are at loggerheads! DH doesn't like my suggestions and I don't like his, so looking for everyone else's 😂.

My top one so far is Iestyn but I'm not 100% and I'm stumped on a middle name to go with. Ideally would like a Welsh first name. I'm not sure if anyone can make any suggestions, as there isn't 1000s to choose from! 🤦‍♀️

I have a IESTYN. It’s great, but people do struggle when we are in England. I also liked Stefan, Ioan, Idris
and Mostyn.

Sluj · 18/12/2023 22:02

Einion, Ianto or Taliesin are nice

Clingfilm · 18/12/2023 22:04

Rhys goes with anything imho.
My fictitious other 3 sons would be

My actual kids names have been mentioned already.

I know 5 sets of brothers called Rhys and Sion, so that's a very popular pairing.

I like Iestyn, I think it sounds nice with a one syllable middle name. Iestyn Llyr? Iestyn Rhun?

I went to school with two sets of Rhys and Siôn brothers and that was in a tiny primary school 😁

DaNiYmaOHyd · 18/12/2023 22:29

@Tulipsroses , the suggestions are mainly the usual dad or grandad names that appear on these threads.
Roeddwn awydd awgrymu Arthur, Jacob ac Elias.

Macsen

DaNiYmaOHyd · 18/12/2023 22:37

Afen is an islamic name

Saisong · 18/12/2023 22:39

So many of these names were already middle-aged when I was a lass - still I guess it follows the granny-chic trend in naming.

In that vein I'll offer - Aled, Carwyn, Arwel, Emrys, Hywel and of course Bryn (which I do love actually).

Less dated feeling are Glyn, Elis, Garth, Idris, Ianto, Madog. There is a Ieuan at DS school in SE England, nobody seems to struggle with it.

Nineteendays · 18/12/2023 22:44

I think most of the names I like have been suggested. Are you welsh and in wales? If not, some may be tricky for people to pronounce. I like:

Aled
Dafydd
Efan
Tomos
Jac
Elis
Idris
Macsen
Iwan
Noa
Owen
Wiliam/Wil
Mostyn
Dylan

SurfSmurf · 18/12/2023 22:46

Macsen (Macs - Max)
Osian
Twm

Other names starting with I...
Idris
Iago
Ioan
Iori
Iolo
Iestyn

PurpleChrayne · 18/12/2023 22:46

I've always loved the name Llyr.

DrFosterWentToGloucester23 · 18/12/2023 22:50

Evan

DaNiYmaOHyd · 18/12/2023 22:50

Garth is a Welsh word but the name/surname isn't Welsh.
I'd imagine that the SE Ieuan's parents use the anglicised pronunciation.

MarjorieDanvers · 18/12/2023 22:51

Lloyd

What’s the anglicised pronunciation of Ieuan?
