Baby name conundrum!

Baby 3 was a boy and he would have always been Vinny but a close friend used it and I’d rather not use the name now, she would rather that too!

so we are down to Claude Quentin or Quentin Claude and the family name will be Bonfrer! French heritage but we are British.

what are your thoughts on Claude as the first name or Quentin as a first name? I like both but have doubts about both. Namely, is Quentin too posh? We are normal income people. My other children are Jasper and Connie.

I also like Raphael/Raphy but my husband thinks it’s too Spanish to use.

I have until tomorrow am to choose between Claude or Quentin!

any feedback welcomed! Or other names but probably will be veeto’d by my other half as he wants me to decide asap!

I think Jasper, Connie and Quentin sounds really nice together.

Quentin Bonfrer sounds very cool imo.

Quentin much better name than Vincent, I like Claude too

DinoRodney · 21/12/2023 21:54

Go with Vincent - you clearly love it the most.

Schum · 21/12/2023 22:02

Quentin is much nicer than Vincent, but I think Raphael is nicer by far and really goes with the sibling names.

snowyflakes · 21/12/2023 22:18

Quentin is a great name, a timeless classic. It goes well with Jasper and Connie

Vincent sounds faddy and I don't like Vince at all. Vinnie sounds like a thief.

Myhusbandearns150k · 21/12/2023 22:23

Raphael is such a good name. Please don’t use Quentin

MidtoLon · 21/12/2023 23:06

Quentin. It goes well with your other children’s names and Q or Tintin are great nicknames but you clearly love Vincent which is ok but don’t feel it goes as well and don’t like the possible nicknames. Don’t worry about your friend though. We have more Mark’s and Michael’s in our family than hot dinners. My daughter had a little boy named him Edward. 3 days later her cousin had a little boy named him Edward. Nobody minded. They have both finished up being Eddie despite the other possible nicknames.

You have a week so pick one of the front runners and start using it and the nickname’s you think you’d use. See if it feels right.

fatandhappy47 · 22/12/2023 06:53

Quentin Vincent?

BigBouncyBaubles · 22/12/2023 10:18

Q or Tintin are great nicknames

🤭

Tintin is really not a great nickname

FunnysInLaJardin · 22/12/2023 10:25

Fabian?

snowyflakes · 22/12/2023 11:08

The Quentins I know tend to shorten to Quinn or Q but Tintin could work for a baby/toddler. I actually wouldn't shorten it at all - I really like it.

Quentin is handsome and Quentin Claude has the wise and measured initials, QC. (Queens Council)

Quentin is much nicer than Vincent imo - an underused classic that's handsome and a little quirky. And Q is a cool initial.

Claude could be mispronounced in English but would be fine as a middle name imo.

Jeelypieces20storeys · 22/12/2023 18:46

Unless baby is headed for Eton, both are awful.Claude would be my choice out if the two, purely because I once has a lovely cat called Claude.

Tintin is NOT a great nickname.

Vincent is an amazing name, classic, timeless, formal but with 'cool' nicknames, tbh, I'd just go for it.

sunflowerpinks · 28/12/2023 13:56

Have you chosen a name op?

Personally I prefer Quentin over Vincent or Claude. It reminds me of the lovely illustrator Quentin Blake. It's a great underused classic imo.
