Ok, I posted a couple of weeks ago with our shortlist of 3. Comments were very helpful. In fact we've now dropped Martha from the list as the views were either that it was becoming very popular or that it wasn't very nice.
...Anyway, we still like Frances but we're also considering Rosalind and Joscelyn (unsure how best to spell it as I've been told this is the masculine spelling) Ruth is still somewhere in the pot too!

So,
1)Francis
2)Rosalind
3)Joscelyn
and poss 4)Ruth

All comments welcome.

Lol, Pesto, too similar to DD's name. (even if you did mention it tongue in cheek!)

I knew a bitch of an Elspeth.
It;'s an old shrew's name.

Consensus on MN (judging by my previous thread) seems to be that Ruth is a bit of a marmite name.

Also wondering about the Josceline spelling. Have I just made that up!

I am way beyond baby names these days but, thinking about Rosalind, my friend recently named her baby Rosanna and tends to call her Rosa - i think it's lovely... Just a thought!

I think Rosalind is beautiful....agree with hotp that Rosa is a cute shortening, also Rosie for a little girl is so sweet

I also like Ruth alot

MrsJohnCusack · 12/03/2008 21:29

Rosalind and MArtha (who on earth thought it wasn't very nice? and I don't think it's that popular, not in an emily/ella/jessica kind of way anyway)

HonoriaGlossop · 12/03/2008 21:43

I hope you go for Rosalind

so pretty

Will you let us know?!

cushioncover · 12/03/2008 22:07

I do like Rosalind. I like strong but pretty names (IMO of course) We hadn't even considered Rosalind or Joscelyn until a couple of weeks ago but they're really growing on me. I'm keen on Ros or Joss for short so both pretty similar.

Still like Ruthie for Ruth though. It does seem silly to be swayed by the shortened version.

Frances. Classy yet unpretentious and timeless.

cushioncover · 12/03/2008 22:10

Oh and yes, come September, I'll add another post!

September!!! Where did that come from? That should be June. Despite first impressions, I'm not an elephant!

Jocelyn is lovely, as is Frances and Rosalind. I like ruth too, but not as much as the others on the list. I also like Rosalyn without the 'd' sound on the end.

cushioncover · 13/03/2008 15:41

Today I'm leaning towards Rosalind, I think. I'm not so keen on Rosalyn although I don't know why as it's very similar to both Rosalind and Jocelyn.

Superstitions aside, I'm not sure that pregnancy brain is the best state to choose a child's name!

Thanks for all the views!

cushio cover - I only really like Ruth.

Rosa is nice too.

Anna8888 · 13/03/2008 15:55

I think Rosalind is very pretty name.

For many years I associated it unfavourably with a rather unattractive girl in my class at school but now I have almost forgotten about her I think it's really rather a lovely name.

MrsMattie · 14/03/2008 17:45

Ruth is the only name I like of these. It's a simple, classy, name. Lovely. The rest - meh.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 14/03/2008 17:46

What about Francesca?

MamaG · 14/03/2008 17:47

Frances is the best name (and my middle name!)
