Lexi? (Not Alexa?)

I really like Lexi as a baby name for DD2. (DD1 is Anna).
I had a great aunt 'Lex', so it's kind of a family name.

I'd have originally used Alexa as a full name... but don't want to for obvious Amazon-y reasons.

I just don't love Alexandra / Alexis / Alexia.

Is Lexi too casual on it's own? Is it weird with Anna?

Is there anything else it could be short for that I might actually like?!

The robot wouldn't put me off using Alexa

I can't see it being around forever

kneehightoacat · 21/11/2023 07:14

How about Alexis?

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 21/11/2023 10:47

I think Lexi as a name is fine and prefer it to Alexa (although I do like Lexa)

RuthW · 21/11/2023 16:44

It's a bit casual and not very classy. Sorry.

Firebird83 · 21/11/2023 21:49

Alexandria
Alexandrina / Alexandrine
Alexina

I would just call her Alexandra so she has the option to use a full name

Anna... A 4 letter name... 2 syllables. No option to be shortened or lengthened. Gets described as beautiful and classic.

Lexi.... Also a 4 letter name with 2 syllables. Absolutely no way, you must give her a longer name so she has choices in the future.

I just don't get it 🙈🙈🙈

Lexi isn’t beautiful or classic and neither does it have any history as a name

It also, as several posters have pointed out, has a low rent reputation

It’s a pretty straightforward point

Sunnydays41 · 22/11/2023 21:27

What about Alexandria? Or too similar to Alexandra?

Lexi is a strippers name. So trashy.

Agreed.

CowboyJoanna · 22/11/2023 22:26

Lexi is chavvy sorry!

jewellyette · 30/12/2023 16:24

I've actually just come across Lexia... which I think is classier than just Lexi and also a bit apart from the Amazon device!

Any further thoughts on Lexia?

Dyslexia.

FutureMandosWife · 30/12/2023 16:25

I know a girl called Lexi, has not had any issues with it. I think it's a nice name.

ChickenBhunaandChips · 30/12/2023 16:39

Lexia is apparently literacy software for schools. It just reminds me of Dyslexia, it doesn’t feel like a name.

Doublebiscuit77 · 30/12/2023 16:55

Not a fan of Lexia.

I agree with PP's suggestion, any first name + Alexa nn Lexi.
e.g.
Juliet Alexa nn Lexi
Edith Alexa nn Lexi etc etc.

Although if you like Lexi just go for it, i quite like it - but you are the one who matters.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 30/12/2023 16:56

Sorry OP Lexia reminds me of dyslexia.
Don't like Lexi. It looks unfinished to my eyes and is a little chavvy (sorry!)

Alexa is lovely. The gadget will be history in a few years.

Sandysandwich · 30/12/2023 17:28

Lexia is literacy software for dyslexia.
Lexa?

popsickle555 · 30/12/2023 20:19

I just don’t think it’s a proper name I’m sorry. Alexandra with nn lexi - yes. Obviously understand the Alexa issue - very annoying!

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 30/12/2023 21:18

What about Alexia with nickname Lexi?

LizzieBet14 · 30/12/2023 21:36

Alessia is beautiful 😍

Cincinnatus · 30/12/2023 21:40

Lexi is a strippers name.
Lexia is an app that is used in schools for children with dyslexia.
Alexia is the best of a bad bunch.

Hayzl · 31/12/2023 00:10

Anna is a classy name, Lexi does NOT go at all.
You need something like
Lucy Lucie
Charlotte Lottie
Lilah
Isobel
Clara
Margo
Sophie
Katie Kate
Vivienne
Victoria
Wendy Winnie
Grace Gracie

What else is on your list with Lexi?

My Granny was Lexi 😂

user1477391263 · 31/12/2023 01:26

Sorry, OP, I'm another one who thinks it's awful. Makes me think of "sexy Lexie" and the word "flexible," and yes, it sounds like the kind of name a lap dancer uses. I don't think it's at all the same sort of thing as "using Eliza instead of Elizabeth."

"Anna and Lexie" also sounds odd. Anna is a very elegant and classy name. Lexie is not!

If you hate Alexandra, you need to go back to the drawing board.

Islandermummy · 31/12/2023 02:43

What about Lexa? I love that name and you could have Lexi as the nickname

Mittens1717 · 31/12/2023 15:21

OP if you love Lexi then I'd use it, it's perfectly fine with Anna and it doesn't need a longer version, it's fine as a stand alone name, I wouldn't use Lexia because it would remind me of Dyslexia but that's just me
