I heard this name recently and love that it is both of Anglo-Saxon origin and came from when the family lived in Claxton and also Ancient Greek κλάζω (klázō, “make a sharp sound; scream”).

For a boy of course. Thoughts?

What about Foghorn?

I like it.

In fact if I have a boy I’m going to use it to go with my 8-year-old daughter Megaphone (pronounced like Persephone - ‘Meg-af-enny’) and Lowdhayler, who’s a son, 11, and really enjoys Forest School.

😂😂😂

OhGoOnThenIfYouInsist · 11/11/2023 22:21

Go down the 'exotic' route
Vuvuzela

I bet your kids are described as 'lively' at Parents' Evening.

My little Wispa, however, is always highly praised by her teachers. I'm fully expecting her little brothers Buzz and Si to be the same.

Brilliant! Another girl and she’s Vuvuzela. (If she’s on the quieter side as a baby, maybe Kazoo.)

ProvisionsOnTheDock · 11/11/2023 22:26

Personally I'd spell it Klaxxaughan, but by all means stick to the traditional spelling if you're not feeling that brave.

Lilacdressinggown · 11/11/2023 22:29

Nee-Naw Siren as middle names?
Bonus points as it is hyphenated.

OhGoOnThenIfYouInsist · 11/11/2023 22:33

Lord Klaxon Bike-Horn of Sirencester

ProudThrilledHappy · 11/11/2023 22:35

It’s setting off alarms for me but if it rings your bell, go for it.

TheChristmasPig · 11/11/2023 22:45

Its Superb! It's like a super revved up Axel or Storm. Brother to Lazer, Ricochet or Flare.

MrsMarzetti · 11/11/2023 22:46

Do you want your child to be a laughing stock?

CoalTit · 11/11/2023 22:48

Thoughts?

I haven't been so giggly-horrified by a baby-name thread since the poster who wanted to call her child Kadence.
It says "my parents have a limited vocabulary".

Brilliant temporary nickname for a noisy toddler; terrible cruelty on a birth certificate.
Also French for car horn, so you can imagine the raised eyebrows and sniggering your poor child would be greeted with there.

Standingupagainsttheplayers · 11/11/2023 22:49

Go for it OP. And then name the next one Kazoo

Sussurations · 11/11/2023 22:54

Tannoy? Or if you wanted to be more formal
Antannoy?

Whataretheodds · 11/11/2023 22:55

I like Tannoy

Whataretheodds · 11/11/2023 22:56

I prefer "Awooooooga". But only for a boy.

BunnyBunnyJabberJabber · 11/11/2023 23:10

Only if the surname is Horne.

overfeckinstimulated · 12/11/2023 01:03

Usually way klaxon is sounded on Mumsnet, it's to share a boil being squeezed

Musntapplecrumble · 12/11/2023 01:09

I'm crying 🤣

HelpMeGetThrough · 12/11/2023 05:16

Is Klaxon going to be brother to your DD Harmonica?

OhGoOnThenIfYouInsist · 12/11/2023 06:17

OP is your Surname Flugelhorn?

LakeTiticaca · 12/11/2023 07:44

What is it with people nowadays who want to saddle their poor kids with the stupidest name they can think of?
Is it a competition?

CandyLeBonBon · 12/11/2023 07:48

Do it op. And yy to Siren for a girl! 😂
