Girl:
Jess (not Jessica, most definitely just Jess)
Amber
Isla

Also like Lexie & Amelie but DD1&2's names end in ee sound, one is ie the other is ey - wonder if it would be too much to have another ee sound ???

Boy:
Jude

Don't like anything else for a boy so am pretty stumped there

Like the sound of Jude, but is he not the patron saint of lost causes (don't know how much associations mean to you).

Like both Amber and Isla not Jess though, makes me think of Postman Pat's cat!

scorpio1 · 11/03/2008 13:46

I like all the girls names, love Lexie. Me and my 2 siters all have ee sounding names and it is fine.

I do think though, if you have Jess, that you could have a full 'Jess' name - Jessica, Jessamy, Jessamine.

Jude is nice, i know one. Are you stuck on boys names??

I like/or know :

Dexter
Logan
Toby
Mason
Oakley
Arlo
Brodie
Reilly
Zachary
Jamie
Levi
Jasper

nickytwotimes · 11/03/2008 13:47

The yare nice names, foggy, but Lexie, uggh!

LadyOfWaffle · 11/03/2008 13:51

Jess.... it's OK
Amber - Nooooooooooooo! Used to like it but 'someone I know' is called it and it sticks in my head
Isla - makes me think Fisher - is that right? How do you pronounce it? I mean, they are all quite nice just have meanings in my head

Jude I thought was a girls name?

I like Jess and Amber,; Isla is nice but fashionable.

Jude is ok for a boy.

Not keen on Lexie.

Lexie is my dd2 (short for alexandra) so obviously WE love it

like Jude was on our like if dd2 was a ds!

not keen on Amber but Jess and isla are nice too

dizzydixies · 11/03/2008 13:56

Amelie is lovely too and if you're not keen on the eeee ends what about Amelia instead?

redadmiral · 11/03/2008 13:57

What about Amelia? I love that one.

No to Amber. I like Jess but I know one and she is Jessie to most people.

I like Isla too.

mrsruffallo · 11/03/2008 13:57

Don't like Amber or Isla
Jess is nice
Not sure about Jude at all

cece · 11/03/2008 13:58

I like Isla.

How about Alexia?

Boys are more tricky...

Jez
Kit
Job
Absolem (my fav but DH vetoed)

dizzydixies · 11/03/2008 13:58

what about

Joel
Jacob
Josh
Caleb
Roan
Finlay
Flynn
Corin
Liam
Leo
Kerr
Keir
Callan
Rudy
Reuben
Rafferty

for boys names?

artichokes · 11/03/2008 13:59

Isla reminds me of the game show host woman from the 80s. Otherwise I think it is pretty.

Amber I hate. Sorry. In our local supermarket there are always young mums with loads of gold hoop earrings screaming "Amberrrrr" at their overweight pre-teens.

Jess is cute.

Lexie I love.

Amelie - OK but not keen on French names unless you have a particular connection to France. Also very popular around here.

I like Jude.

cece · 11/03/2008 13:59

Oh and two more boys names I love

Sidney
Ptomely

dizzydixies · 11/03/2008 13:59

Alexa and Alexia for girl?

mrsruffallo · 11/03/2008 13:59

Don't like any of those DD

bundle · 11/03/2008 14:00

I like Sidney too

and Nancy, Cora, Isla, Naomi, Esther

dizzydixies · 11/03/2008 14:00

are you looking for names too mrsruffallo?

mrsruffallo · 11/03/2008 14:01

LOL DD

FoghornLeghorn · 11/03/2008 14:01

Yeah Jude is the patron saint of lost causes - this is the name we had when I was pregnant with DD2 and we still love it. The only other names I like are Zach or Max but DH has vetoed ....

Isla is as in Fisher yes, pronounced Eye-la. Is it getting really popular ? I don't want anything where there be 3of them in the same class a school.

Defo not Jessica, don't know why but just don't like it !

OP posts:
belgo · 11/03/2008 14:02

but the problem with Jess is that people will assume it's short for Jessica

scorpio1 · 11/03/2008 14:03

Isla is getting more popular, yes. I want to call DD (due in 4 weeks)Lexie but she sort of has a name already, would be weird to call her something else now.

Oh i like Lacey as well.

You seem like you like short names for boys - Sam? Ben?

Hassled · 11/03/2008 14:03

Favourite of the options is Jess.

Isla St Clair - was Brucie's glamourous assistant in the Generation Game circa 1979.
