Honest opinions on these four baby girl names

Hi,

I've made a couple of posts in the past to help us find a name for our baby girl, they've really helped to narrow down our options and we think we may be ready to settle on a name.

Just to be sure, I'd we'd rather hear honest opinions now just based solely on our shortlist, as we're not sharing the names with anyone until she is born so reactions are difficult to gauge.

Any opinions good and bad are welcome 🙂 we want to make sure there's nothing negative as well that we haven't already thought of.

Shortlist : Callie, Erin, Raine, Nova.

Not overseen on any of them. But Erin is the best. Raine and Nova are pretty dire.

I went to school with a Nova, she'll be in her 40s now. It was an odd name then, though I think she was probably named just prior to the influx of Vauxhall Novas. I bet her parents were thrilled! My first car was a Nova too.

I like Erin, definitely the best of your choices. I agree with others that Callie should be short for something, I particularly like Calista. That said, I do know a Callie who is "just" Callie. She's late teens and loves her name.

Don't like Raine.

Callie isn't really a name, it's a nickname for a name.
Loathe the name Erin - hard and brittle-sounding.
The only Raine I've heard of is Raine Spencer, not a very pleasant association. Rain without an 'e' would be better.
Nova is Trying Too Hard.

P.S. Alternative for Callie - Calypso (a Greek nymph) - a beautiful name.

Erin would have been the name of my eldest if he had been a she.

I like them all. After Erin, my favourite would be Nova

I like Callie, it’s my favourite of your choices but I would use it as a shortening for Calliope.
Erin is nice but the popularity puts me off.
I don’t like Raine.
Nova is my 2nd choice, it’s quite sweet.

Callie is okay should be short for Calliope.
Raine is horrible
Erin is harsh sounding
Nova was my first car and makes me want to say Vauxhall in front of it

Princess Diana called her stepmother Raine ‘acid Raine’. There are many more variations.

Callie - sweet! ok as a nickname but what is it short for? Maybe full name on birth certificate so your adult DD has a choice?

Collie and Erin are the best ones. Don't like Nova.
Lorraine?

If Nova is bring criticised as a car name (a car that went out of production 30 years ago), I'm not convinced the name of a popular ice lolly is preferable!

No va is Spanish
Nova is Latin, meaning new

I like Callie. I don't agree with the other posters who said you should choose a longer name but use Callie as a nn. We don't tell people to put Katherine on the bc if they actually want their dd to be Kate or Katie.

Erin is my favourite,I only know one so definitely not overused.

I'd double check that as it is fairly popular in some areas - I can think of 4 under 5 off the top of my head.

Be lovely if it was short for something else

Like it, it's a name that always seems to pop up from time to time for different ages

Raine
Middle name? Pet name? I don't love it

Nova
Lovely old fashioned name (for the UK) making a come back

Is Princess Diana's stepmother going to be an important cultural touchpoint for a child born in 2023?

I don't like any of them at all. Sorry. They all sound far too 'trying hard to be different'. Perfectly good names for a family pet... but not a baby.

Callie is cute but can you call her calista or
Something more substantial that doesn't end in a y/ie?

Erin is nice.

Raine... not sure. Plain Raine
