ARRRAGGH!! Help really need a sounding board.

We are having twin girls in July, had our boys names all sussed but don't really have a clue about girls.

Both quite like Verity and Amelie ?? but wondered if Verity was a very harsh name??

Also like Edie, but not sure about the other name??

Any ideas for twin girls??

Had twin boys 6.5 yrs ago but had decided on Sophie and Katie if they were girls

My choice would be Annabel and Sophie.

I like Amelie but not Verity.

Alice and Kate

Jessica and Leah

Elyse and Ruby

Ellie and Rose

Thanks everyone. Have decided to drop Verity, it seems to evoke a love hate reaction, which unsettles us a bit. Were never quite sure on it, def helped to get opinions!

Sophie and Amelie

?

HonoriaGlossop · 08/03/2008 21:02

I am loving the name Estella as well, it's so pretty.

B1977 · 08/03/2008 21:07

I have a lovely friend called Verity but you could always use it as a middle name. Your suggestions are all nice, I would just avoid any 2 names which start with the same letter (I have a friend called Rebecca with a sister called Rachel and they always get mixed up) any which rhyme or which have a rhyming feel to them e.g. Olivia and Susanna, not a true rhyme but people might still get mixed up. Names with a similar theme might be tricky too even if not obvious e.g. Rose and Lily?

talkingmongoose · 09/03/2008 00:39

Bertha and Gert.

Hi a friend has Estelle and Amelie although not twins. Think they go well together. One suggestion I heard was to call the younger twin the name that is first alphabetically so they are first in something IYSWIM. Did not do this myself though as DH named them as they popped out.

TwoFirTreesToday · 09/03/2008 09:27

Love Verity! Very Poldark Means truth doesnt it? I would follow your instinct with names, if you like it stick with it.

Phillipa (pippa)
Penelope (penny)

Eleanor
Alexandra

Faith
Hope

Temperance
Patience

ok getting silly now lol

Sarahjct · 10/03/2008 16:27

I love Verity too (Poldark fan here!) but dh wouldn't have it because he said it was too similar to Felicity, and he hates that!

EffiePerine · 10/03/2008 16:29

I love Verity. Not sure about Amelie, what about Grace (tho v popular) or Constance?

ivykaty44 · 10/03/2008 16:34

Don't do "ee" on the end of both names, one "ee" on the end of a name is ok but not both.

So not Verity and Felicity for example.

For some reason when you call one girl the other will hear the -ee and come running as well (well in our case shout "yeah")

EffiePerine · 10/03/2008 16:35

or Eleanor and Rose go nicely together
Grace and Jane (much underrated name IMO)

EffiePerine · 10/03/2008 16:36

actually Constance is growing on me a LOT (adds to hypothetical list for hypothetical DC2)

Verity already there but DH not keen

cadelaide · 10/03/2008 16:37

Verity, Amelie, Edie.....all lovely I think.
Verity's not at all harsh.

cadelaide · 10/03/2008 16:37

Oh, sorry, you've moved on!

SusieMc · 11/03/2008 09:08

I'm afraid I don't like Verity either...but I do love Amelie/Amelia.

How about...

  • Amelie and Eloise (My persoal favourite combo. Both 3 syllable French names and very pretty )
  • Amelie and Celeste
  • Amelie and Aurora
  • Amelia and Elysia
  • Amelia and Ilona
  • Amelie and Louisa

What d'ya think ?

Susie

outinthesticksmummy · 11/03/2008 11:33
