DS4 and I'm thinking Barry or Bernard. I already have Dennis, Doreen and Benedict.
I like unusual old fashioned names.

Actually Barry is short for Barry from Eastenders

The name came first and then the character was written around it. He is the personification of a Barry

Agree with everyone saying Bernard. Also rather like Roland as a PP suggested

As I say Grange Hill in the 70/80s vibes. Roland at least wasn't a bit part extra.

AlexaCanYouHearMe · 04/10/2023 22:44

They are all dreadful IMO! Shock

This is correct. Either with or without hyphens.

fishfingersandtoes · 04/10/2023 22:48

Doreen is my daughter not son, should probably have said DS3

My father's first names were Brian Bernard. Unusual for his generation and now unusual again. (His surname began with "B" as well).

This is the image that what everyone else will think your child will grow up to look like when you show them your beautiful baby Bazza.

Barry or Bernard?

Confused Is this a zombie thread from 70 years ago?

bluesatin · 04/10/2023 22:52

That sort of thing is very short lived. I expect in 10 years time nobody will remember who "Kylie" was.

DelightfullyDotty · 04/10/2023 22:53

Nedmund

IWasFunBeforeMum · 04/10/2023 22:54

Barry from EastEnders died in 2004.

RIP Bazza. It's the twentieth anniversary next year.

And Barry remains a shit name with or without his memory ingrained on our brains.

Remember "I'm Barry Scott of Cillit Bang fame?

Thismummyrunstheshow · 04/10/2023 22:58

Came for the comments, they did not disappoint

HopeItsChips · 04/10/2023 22:59

Has anyone mentioned Barry Grant from Brookside yet?

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 04/10/2023 23:01

I used to have a small crush on Bernard from Yes Minister. And Bernard Butler. But for a baby? No.

And surely you only mentioned Barry to make Bernard look more palatable!

Bruisername · 04/10/2023 23:02

One of the Chuckle brothers was a Barry

mdinbc · 04/10/2023 23:02

I'm going against the grain and saying go for it! Barry is a great name from the 50's, 60's.

It's following in the George, Fred, Arthur trend, but moving up a decade. Barry Gibb, Barry White; both very popular in the 70's,; they would have been born in the 50's.

It seems to me that great-grandparents' names are cool, but grandparent's are not. Time to start bringing them in!

I've never heard of Baz as a nickname, maybe it's short for Basil?

Was just about to comment this! That's who I think of!

RedToothBrush · 04/10/2023 23:03

Barry Manilow. Shit.
Barry from the BeeGees. Cheese Fest.
Barry White. Just Embarassing.
Barry Chuckle. Yeah It Doesn't Get Better Does it?
Barry Humphries. Na Possums.

There has never been a cool Barry. Ever.

Bruisername · 04/10/2023 23:03

Baz and Bazza are very common nicknames for Barry (see Gaz and Gaza for Garry, and Hazza for Harry). Not Basil!!

BeaLola · 04/10/2023 23:04

I would humbly suggest Peter - old fashioned but infinitely nicer than Barry or Bernard and goes with Benedict
