We love this name and know v few but I wonder whether others so. If you know them are they in England or is it more an international popularity?

any opinions on the name also welcome.

I love it and it was nearly DD2's name! Go for it OP!

GP78 · 04/09/2023 06:42

Love it, only know one Nina.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 04/09/2023 06:44

Only one. We toyed with it for DD2 but I kept hearing “Neee-Naaaw”.

Tinybrother · 04/09/2023 06:48

It’s a lovely name. I know four Ninas aged between 0 and 6 and one aged 25

Tinybrother · 04/09/2023 06:49

I’m in England by the way, and so are they.

don’t let the popularity of a name put you off though - if you think it’s nice chances are lots of other people will too

StamppotAndGravy · 04/09/2023 06:49

You could go the full way and use Katarina with the intention on always calling her Nina. I know a lot of little Noras but Ninas are mostly 30+

CurlewKate · 04/09/2023 06:51

@Tinybrother "don’t let the popularity of a name put you off though"

Are you saying that because you know 4 Ninas it's a popular name?

ElleDeeCB · 04/09/2023 07:00

I’m in England and my child is called Nina. At her Primary school there has only been one other Nina whilst she has been there. The school is very international though so may not be typical. We know of one other English Nina who is the daughter of someone I know through work. It’s not so unusual that people don’t know how to spell, pronounce etc. Probably not something that would worry you - but FYI you’re unlikely to find it in the names available when buying personalised pens, key rings etc in gift shops which really annoys my daughter (all her friends’ names like Olivia, Lily, Sophia are there but not hers!!) . However in France it’s much more common and you can find personalised items in shops there instead.
We chose it as we needed a name that would work in multiple languages (international family) and without a change in how it’s pronounced. We’ve never had any nee-naw teasing or anything like that.

I really like it.

Classic and pretty, but not frilly or overused.

If it goes with your surname go for it!

I don't know any Ninas under 30, but the ones I do know are lovely.

WaitingForSunnyDays · 04/09/2023 07:10

I like it, and don't know any.

UseOfWeapons · 04/09/2023 07:12

I like it, my cousin is a Nina, it’s the Italian diminutive for Antonina.

manontroppo · 04/09/2023 07:13

I know of 4 round here from newborns to late primary. Definitely having a moment.

AnnieKayTee · 04/09/2023 07:14

I love it!

BlackJumpsuit · 04/09/2023 07:15

It's a cute little name!

PurpleChrayne · 04/09/2023 07:16

Gorgeous.

I know one in her 40s, an elderly one, and a toddler.

HorsePlatitudes · 04/09/2023 07:17

It’s a great name, direct and short and with much character, much like the two Nina I’ve known IRL 😂.

I definitely considered it.

anon2022anon · 04/09/2023 07:18

One aged 2/3, and one aged 25-30ish.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 04/09/2023 07:24

I like it and know two, both aged under ten. One is English, the other is English/German.

SheilaFentiman · 04/09/2023 07:26

I love it, was in the list if either of mine had been girls!

ClemmyTine · 04/09/2023 07:29

I know 3.
2 over 50 and 1 early twenties.

RoachFish · 04/09/2023 07:34

It's a lovely name. I only know people in their 40s and 70s called Nina. I also like Mia, but that might be more common.

SoupDragon · 04/09/2023 07:45

I like it. I know 2 - both teenagers.

BanditHeelerismyhero · 04/09/2023 07:46

Oh I love it. Gorgeous name
I only know one and she is mid forties and just the epitome of cool and edgy, with a great job and family.

StoatofDisarray · 04/09/2023 07:48

I only know one: she's my cleaner and I think she's under 30! She's very nice.

SpongeBobSquarePantaloons · 04/09/2023 07:53

I don't know any under 30 personally but I think Nina is a lovely name!
