We both love the name Noah and would like to use DH's name Simon as the middle name - Noah Simon but does it have that certain ring to it IYKWIM. Im not sure if it sounds right?

We dont want to ask family about what they think - weve decided to keep the name secret as were fed up of all the comments - theres always some negative comment or two - at this rate we'll never find a name.

Our surname is just one syllable

so Noah Simon (one syllable)

What do you think?

You know what - Im just going to go with it I think.
We both love the name and nothing else seems to quite measure up.
There will always be someone who doesnt like it and tbh I know that quite a few in our family will defo give the look! But Im sure theyll get used to it.

Thanks for all your suggestions - it does help. I love the Noah William suggestion!

Is there anyone out there whos a strong believer in picking a few names and deciding which suits best once the baby is born.

I know a few people who chose a name and then decided to change it once the baby was born because he/she looked nothing like the name they chose e.g. an 11lb baby girls name was changed from Grace to katie - apparantly she would never be a Grace!

Heaps of Noahs round my way, too. It's a nice name all the same. Not keen on it with Simon at all, though.

Its really hard to believe that Noah is a common name where you live - not that Im saying you are a lier or anything!

But I have never come across the name Noah before where I live - I was really surprised to see it being no50 on the 100 most popular names for 2007. Weird!

The most common boys names at the moment where we live are Archie and Alfie. Which I love but I would never call him that due to it being so popular.

Loads of Noahs round here too and it's only a matter of time before the creative spellers get their teeth into it.....

Anyone for Nowah, Nowagh, Noa ?

I quite like Noah Simon though.

I hate the whole creative spelling thing. Leave it be if you ask me.

I once knew a boy named Michael spelt Mykle - why? Also a girl named Kaye spelt K. I think it creates a lot of unnecessary hassle for the child if you ask me!

I don't know any Noah's where I live. There are many little boys with the name of Harry, Oliver, Sam and William but not one lovely little Noah!!

Noah Simon is a good strong name, I love it!
