Which one would you choose? Friend is torn between the 2 and due in October. Middle name will be Charlotte

Where I live, all the Natalies become Na-Leh, so Natasha.

I love both those names - they do have an 80's vibe but I love that. Mum to a Louise and Rachel over here, let's bring back those cool 80's names xx

DD is a Natalie and I don't think anyone calls her Nah-uh-lee. Her friends call her Nat. When she was little she had a friend called Natalia. DS thought her name was Na-charlia 🤣

I like both, but Natalie is better with Charlotte. I know a young Natalie, most people here pronounce it properly.

I'm a Natalie so I'm probably biased, but I do think Natalie/Natalia Charlotte sounds better than Natasha Charlotte. I do love Natasha though.

Nobody has ever called me Nah-u-lee, and if she's choosing a shortening she prefers early, everyone will get used to it. My niece is Gabriella and has only ever been known by her full name or by GiGi. Never Gabby, so it's really whatever nn you introduce that will be used.

I like Tasha as a nn for Natasha but Tasha is also a name in its own right where I am.

In truth I don't like either much.
I do like Natalia.
I think I prefer Natalie slightly but would never use it because in the area I work every single Natalie is Na - alie with no t pronounced.
So I would pick Natasha despite not looking it as much as a name.

Natasha is the diminutive form of Natalia in Russian so tbh for me it is effectively the same name, just like Katya is for Katherine.

Natalie! I've always loved this name, it's so pretty. I like Talie or Nate as a nickname, but the full name is easy to stick with.

Natasha, I don't dislike it, but I don't like Tash as a nickname and that puts me off.

I was an October born Natalie and was named after the actress Natalie Wood (clearly a very late 70s baby).

Plenty of Natalie's not born at Christmas, it's not a name generally associated with Christmas like Holly or Noelle.

Natasha. Natalie, like so many French names ending in ie, sounds lovely in French but like a kind of weird adjective when pronounced with an English accent (“natterly”).

What do you mean "not associated with Christmas"? Natalie is literally an abbreviation of the Latin for Christmas.
Natal means associated with birth. Christmas is the only meaning, it has no other meaning. Natalia means Christmas day

Hah, I'm an October born Natasha Grin but I was always going to have the name no matter what time of year I was born, my dad decided it long before he even met my mum.

OP, I'm obviously partial to Natasha but it is a bit to sha sha with Charlotte, but then again how often do you say both names together in real life?

Because that's what you really want to name your baby regardless of what month it's born in?
